77th annual exhibitionThe NSS 77th Annual Exhibition will be held exclusively atBrookgreen Gardens, Pawleys Island, South CarolinaAugust 7 - October 31, 2010EligibilityThe Exhibition is open to NSS Fellows, Elected Sculptor Members, and Associateswhose dues are paid in full. All entries are subject to jury. Workspreviously exhibited in an Annual NSS Exhibition are ineligible. All workwill be juried anonymously from high quality images.Guidelines<strong>Sculpture</strong>s may be in any permanent medium. Terracotta and plaster workswill be considered, but only on <strong>the</strong> condition that artists assume all responsibilityfor proper packaging and shipping of works. The NSS and BrookgreenGardens will not be held responsible for any damages. Works of all sizes willbe considered, including reliefs and medals.CALENDAR• March 1, 2010: Receipt deadline for submission• March 15, 2010: Notification mailed to artists• July 2010: <strong>Sculpture</strong> shipped to South Carolina• August 7 - October 31, 2010: 77th Annual at Brookgreen Gardens• October 30, 2010: Closing reception at Brookgreen• November 2010: <strong>Sculpture</strong> returned to artistsProcedureDigital images are preferred and may be submitted directly online atwww.nationalsculpture.org/exhibitions/submissionsArtists may also send CDs. CDs must be labeled with name, address, phonenumber, title of sculpture, size, weight, material, and edition size (if applicable).Please send two views for works in <strong>the</strong> round. No more than threeworks may be submitted; only one work may be exhibited.Online SubmissionSculptors submitting online will be required to give <strong>the</strong>ir name, address, titleof sculpture, date, medium, dimensions (height including base, base widthand depth) and price of work. Artists will be given <strong>the</strong> opportunity to change<strong>the</strong>se figures at a later time if necessary and no work will be juried on <strong>the</strong>sefigures alone. Credit card information for <strong>the</strong> processing fee will also betaken on our secure server.Uploaded images should have a resolution of 72 dpi size and be no morethan 600 pixels on <strong>the</strong> longest side (8.33 inches). If you experience any difficultywith <strong>the</strong> procedure, please do not hesitate to contact us at: support@nationalscupture.orgProcessingA non-refundable processing fee of $30 must be included with all submissions.Jury and NotificationThe Jury of Selection is composed of at least 2 NSS Fellows and 1 curator.The Jury of Awards is 1 NSS Fellow, 1 Sculptor (non NSS member) and 1curator. The Jury of Awards will meet once <strong>the</strong> exhibition is installed to select<strong>the</strong> prize winners. Exhibiton Awards and a “People’s Choice” Award will bepresented at Brookgreen’s closing celebration reception.ContractAll accepted sculptors will be asked to sign a brief contract stating that <strong>the</strong>yagree to loan <strong>the</strong>ir accepted work of sculpture for <strong>the</strong> duration of <strong>the</strong> exhibitionat Brookgreen Gardens. Contracts will also establish prices for all worksintended for sale. Sculptors under <strong>the</strong> age of 40 are eligible for <strong>the</strong> BeverlyHoyt Robertson Memorial Award and should indicate eligibility by checking<strong>the</strong> box on <strong>the</strong> contract.Insurance for individual works in transit is optional and is <strong>the</strong> responsibilityof <strong>the</strong> individual sculptor.SalesPrices will be established in <strong>the</strong> artist contract and will not be subject tochange. All inquiries on works received during <strong>the</strong> exhibition will be referredto <strong>the</strong> NSS. A commission will be charged on all sales. (Note: works do nothave to be available for sale.) A courtesy discount of 10% will be given toPatron Members, and taken off <strong>the</strong> top sale price.Exhibition CatalogueAll works included in <strong>the</strong> exhibition will be reproduced in a color catalogue.All catalogue images will be derived from <strong>the</strong> submitted digital images. A feeof $75 will be charged to each sculptor whose work is accepted in <strong>the</strong> exhibitionfor which <strong>the</strong>y will receive 3 catalogues. The catalogue will also be availablefor sale at Brookgreen Gardens and distributed to select U.S. art libraries.ReceptionA closing reception will be given at Brookgreen Gardens. NSS will allocateadditional funding toward publicizing <strong>the</strong> show to benefit all participants in<strong>the</strong> exhibition.Shipping/Receiving/Removal/ReturnAll works must be shipped to a secure South Carolina warehouse; instructionswill be included in acceptance letters.All works must be delivered in a crate or box that is suitablefor shipping. No exceptions!At <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> exhibition’s run at Brookgreen Gardens, all works will bewarehoused at a location in South Carolina. A notice will be mailed to allartists a month prior to <strong>the</strong> close of <strong>the</strong> show to alert <strong>the</strong>m of this.
