TIE NARCOTIC DRUGS AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES(AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001No. 9 OF 200 119th May, 2001.1An Act further to amend the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic SubstancesAct, 1985.1Da it enadled by Parlianlent in PheFifty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:- !1. (I) 'This Act may be called the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Short title and(Amendment) Act, 2001.commencement.(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notificationin the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different provisionsof this Act, and any reference in any provision to the conlmencement bf thiq Act shall becoristrued as a reference to the coming into force of that provision.61 of 1985. 2. In the Narcotic Ddgs'and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (hereinafter referred Amendment ofto as the principal Act), in section 1, in sub-section (2). after the words "whole of India", the section I.,following shall be inserted, namely:-I"and it applies hlso-(a) to all citizens of India out'kide India;I
