Zone 9 MeetingPresidents and Editors MeetingPhoto from AMR files. The annual Zone 9 meeting was conductedthis year in Albuquerque, NM, on Feb2, chaired by Kathy Fricke, our Zone 9Representative to PCA. This was anopportunity for the regions to interact andto coordinate activities during the comingyear. Since Bill Espinola was unable toattend due to a business conflict, I representedAMR in hisplace. As always, itwas a great opportunityto see old friends andmake new ones. Kathyopened by noting thatJim McDonaldZone 9 experienced 3%growth over the pastyear, making us the fastest growing zonein PCA.A major order of business was areview of each region's calendars, so thatwe will all know what activities eachregion is planning for the year. Someexciting events are coming up, such asRoad Runner's Fiesta del Sol in May, aClub Race and Drivers' Education (DE)event in Las Vegas in May hosted byIntermountain Region, Rocky Mountain'sSpring Tour in March and Concoursd'Elegance in June, and Carrera Region'sOctober Festival in El Paso and DE atArroyo Seco raceway in November, toname just a few. Of course, we are hostingseveral significant events, includingtwo DE events, two autocrosses, our FallTour, monthly mini-tours, and much more(check out our Events Calendar here inMountain Passages).Several guest speakers from PCANational also addressed the group, providingvaluable information about the clubfrom the national perspective.MikeLommatzsch, the National AwardsCommittee Chair, spoke on variousawards that are given to a PCA Regioneach year to recognize service to the cluband the community. Awards include theEnthusiast of the Year and Family of theYear awards, the Region of the Yearaward, and the PCA Service Awards, asseries of awards given for service to thelocal community and/or charitable organizations.Mike noted that it was simple forregions to submit for these awards, andhe encouraged all present to do so. Judy10Hendrickson, National Membership Chair, followed with adiscussion of membership and gave tips for retaining it.And finally Monte Smith, National Treasurer, discussedupcoming changes within PCA. The official PCA positionis that the new Cayenne SUV is fully welcome in theclub, so we can expect to see a very different look tosome cars participating in future events. He noted thatPCA is composed of 141regions divided into 13 Zones.AMR is part of Zone 9, encompassing7 regions:Rocky Mountain, AlpineMountain, Road Runner, LlanoEstacado, West Texas,Carrera, and Intermountain.Gear BoxHeadquarters901/904/911915/930/G-50torque-biasinglimited slips7191 ArapahoeBoulder, CO 80303USA(303) 443-1343(303) 444-3715 faxemail tomconway@carquip.comRacing Gear Ratios•356 - 14 Ratios with new dogs ......................................Call.•911 ‘65-’71 (901) - 22 Ratios w/ new dogs ....................Call.•911 ‘72-’86 (915) - 59 Ratios w/ new dogs ....................Call.•930 ‘75-’88 - 39 Ratios w/ new dogs..............................Call.•G-50/C-2/C-4 ‘87-’94 77 Ratios w/ new dogs ......................Call.•904 Mainshafts NEW (300 m) ......................................$795.Limited Slip Differentials•915 / 930 GT (ZF style) 72-87/911 NEW ................$1795.•904 / 911 ‘65-’68 Torque-Biasing..............................$1495.•915/930 ‘69-’87 Torque-Biasing................................$1495.•G-50 ‘88 on 911 Torque-Biasing ..............................$1495.•356/741 ‘59-’65 Torque-Biasing................................$1850.•904/911 ‘65-’68 Rebuilt (ZF style) ............................$1495.Ring and Pinions•New 8:39 Turbo (Short) 76-88....................................$2150.•New 7:31 915 72-86 ..................................................$1350.•New 7:31 356 53-65 ....................................................$850.•Ring & Pinion “R” Factor Tool (Nice) ............................$895.Transmissions•356/741 59-65 rebuilt (exchange) ..............................$2450.•901/911 65-71 rebuilt (exchange) ..............................$1895.•915/911 72-86 (exchange) ..............................$1895/$2950.•930/75-88 (exchange) ....................................................Call.•930/38-1988 w/LSD (exchange) ....................................Call.•1990 C-4 rebuilt (exchange) ..........................................Call.•944 S Rebuilt (exchange) 9:35 R & P ........................$2450.•944 Turbo (exchange) 8:27 R & P..............................$1950.•944 83 on (exchange) ................................................$1750.L to R: Judy Hendrickson (PCA Membership Chair), KathyFricke (Zone 9 Rep), Monte Smith (PCA Treasurer), MikeLommatzsch (PCAAwards Committee Chair)L to R: David Bohon (West Texas), Sam Copeland (West Texas), Marvin Ross (Rocky Mountain), Alan Walter (Intermountain),Fran Walker (Carrera)New Gears915interchangeablemainshaft w/first gearNEW! So, watch out allyou autocrossers. And keep your eyes on your rear viewmirrors at the DE events. After a full day of discussions, we all jumped intocarpools and were off to visit the garage of BrucePhillips and his wife Lisa Payne-Thomas. Both are avidClub Racers, making their garage a wonder to tour.Bruce and Lisa had two cars each, and all looked brutallyfast just sitting there in the garage. Not only were thecars exciting in themselves, but since Bruce is the leadingauto paint wholesaler in New Mexico, he had paintedall four race cars in iridescent rainbows that madethem works of art view. Finally, after we had all drooledfor an hour or so, we thanked Bruce and Lisa for theirhospitality and adjourned to a local restaurant to cap offthe evening with supper and socializing as guests of theRoad Runner Region membership. Fun flowed freely, and we were all sad when the evening ended. But timemoves on, and the next day I headed my Boxster backup I-25 to Colorado Springs, looking forward to the comingyear of great AMR Porsche activities.JIM MCDONALD, MEMBER-AT-LARGEBruce and Annette Larsen ready for another tour!!Dave Banazek &Art Schuster3945 Blake Street • Denver CO 80205303 296-1188www.dartauto.com info@dartauto.comPhoto by Phyllis Godfredson.March 23, 2002RMR’sSpring Tour& RallyWhere: Prestige Imports,9201 West Colfax, DenverWhen: March 23, 20029:00 Registration and coffee10:01 First Car out! What: Entry fee is $25 per car.Rallymaster: Lee SammonsReady to clear out the carburetors inthe car and the cobwebs in the head?Come on out to RMR's annual SpringTour and Rally’.
