· Driveway approach grades cause restricted sight distanceRURAL MAJOR MEDIUM SPEED CLASSIFICATIONSeveral items were noted that could be improved if <strong>the</strong> road was ever reconstructed atthose specific locations. However, considering <strong>the</strong> classification of <strong>the</strong> road and <strong>the</strong> costof improvements, many items were recommended to leave as <strong>the</strong>y are. Included are lowsigns, relatively steep ditches, rigid non-breakaway fence, low guardrail, steep slopeleading to guardrail, non-standard arrow speed limit sign.The following items were thought to be of a relatively low cost improvement that couldhave positive safety benefits and should be considered <strong>for</strong> improvement in a reasonablyshort time frame:Westbound:· relocate 55mph sign· install winding road sign in lieu of many curve warning signs and replace curvewarning sign with turn warning sign at 25mph curve· delineate relatively steep slopes· install RR crossing pavement markingsEastbound:· delineation inconsistent and in need of maintenance· repair edge dropoff· install winding road sign in lieu of many curve warning signsThe following item was thought to be of such a nature that we recommend <strong>the</strong>improvement be initiated as soon as possible:· Repair delineation where knocked down and where located on guardrailRURAL MINOR CLASSICATIONSeveral items were noted that could be improved if <strong>the</strong> road ever was reconstructed atthose specific locations. However, considering <strong>the</strong> classification of <strong>the</strong> road and <strong>the</strong> costof improvements, many items were recommended to leave as <strong>the</strong>y are. Included arevertical and horizontal sight restrictions and culvert blunt ends.The following items were thought to be of a relatively low cost improvement that couldhave positive safety benefits and should be considered <strong>for</strong> improvement in a reasonabletime frame:· reshape ditch sections· delineate roadside near holes· delineate roadside near steep high slopes26
