Ship unloaders in generalInformationWhen IBAU HAMBURGwas established as anengineering company in1975, its core-activity areawas the Silo and MaterialsHandling Technology.Innovative products andtechnologies such asthe IBAU Central Cone Silohave radically changedthe storing of bulk material.IBAU HAMBURG’s firstharbour terminals were builtin the mid 80s. In order tooffer a complete range ofmaterial handling equipment,at the beginning ofthe 90s IBAU HAMBURGdeveloped a ship unloader.Since then our companyis one of the most importantsuppliers of ship unloadersfor the cement industry.In addition, we took advantagefrom the decision ofdeveloping mechanical shipunloaders that work applyingthe screwconveyorprinciple and whose energyconsumption is only0,4 to 0,5 kWh/t of cement.Thus, if compared to thevacuum systems, 60 to 65 %of energy for the cementunloading is saved.According to the size of theship and the terminalconditions, the following shipunloaders can be used:• up to 5000 dwt and 400 t/hunloading capacity,• up to 15000 dwt and 400 t/hunloading capacity,• over 15000 dwt and 800 t/hunloading capacity.Self-supporting constructionsare used for the capacityclass up to 15000 dwt.Supporting structures areneeded for ship unloaders ofthe 20000 dwt class with20 m long unloading arms.The weight of ship unloadersinstalled on trailers is about30 t, while bigger ship unloadersfor Handymax-shipsweigh several hundred tons.Barge< 5.000 dwtBulk carrier> 5.000 dwt < 15.000 dwtBulk carrier> 15.000 dwt < 60.000 dwtRoad mobile ship unloaderPort mobile ship unloaderHigh capacity ship unloader2 3
