Stirling – Located 20 minutes north of Belleville is the unique Village of Stirling.
A focal point for the Village of Stirling is it’s “covered bridge” located smack in
the middle of the village. While strolling down the main streets of Stirling you will
see it is flled with old time charm. You may want to catch an act at the Stirling
Festival Theatre or take a tour through Hastings County Agricultural Museum or
better yet visit the newly renovated heritage Train Station. Annual events such as
the Stirling Truck Show; Groundhog Fest; and of course the ever popular night
time Santa Claus Parade are held here. More info available for the museum at

Eldorado - A favourite stop for many heading North is the Eldorado Cheese
Factory. Here mom & dad can stock up on some of the best cheese and curd
around, and for the whole family you can purchase the best milkshake or ice
cream cone to cool you down. Eldorado is perhaps still remembered for the Gold
Rush of 1866. The Eldorado name came to represent another kind of gold when
Eldorado won top honours in the British Empire Cheese Show.
Marmora - You can stop and peer into the Marmora Mine, an abandoned openpit
iron ore mine. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, I would be remiss if I did
not mention the Marmora Cup Annual Dog Sled Races. If you are a camper be
sure and check out Glen Allen Park. It is on Crowe Lake, just 5 minutes north
of Marmora and it is a long-time favourite with vacationers from far and wide.
Tweed - Tweed is both a municipality and a village located 35 kms north of
Belleville on Hwy. 37, approximately 2 ½ hours from Toronto or Ottawa. When
you visit Tweed be sure and visit The Tweed Heritage Centre & Museum, a
converted residence built in 1897, that now houses archives, a museum and
an information bureau. Tweed is reported to be home of one of North America’s
smallest jailhouses, located right across the street from the Heritage Centre.
