South from Belleville, taking a scenic drive over the Norris Whitney Bridge will
lead you straight into the heart of Prince Edward County. Before going too
far take a glance as you drive by of the Mountain View Airport. The airport itself
serves as a Royal Canadian Air Cadet fying centre from May to October. Stored
at the airport are retired Canadian Forces aircraft. The view is magnifcent from
atop the hill.
There is a lot to do South of Belleville. If shopping is your thing be sure and take
in the small Villages of Bloomfeld and Wellington. Another popular spot is the
Outlet and Sandbanks Provincial Parks. Your family will delight in the many
miles of sand and beaches. If you are getting hungry there are many stops along
the way to whet your appetite. You can also take a drive and stop at the Black
Creek Cheese Factory. Again you won’t be disappointed and if outdoor views
are your thing be sure and keep on driving past the cheese factory and
go as far as you can go. Heading back towards Picton you may want
to fnd your way to the Lake On The Mountain Lookout Point. This Lake,
surrounded in mystery and legends, sits 200 feet above Lake Ontario.
If you aren’t all shopped out when you come down off of Lake on the
Mountain head to the nearby Glenora Ferry which will drop you off in
Adolphustown, and you can make your way into the bigger City of
Kingston to fnish your shopping.
