8The latter s<strong>it</strong>uation is <strong>the</strong> most difficult to overcome because <strong>it</strong> mightcause you troubles virtually <strong>in</strong> every sector <strong>of</strong> your life: health, money, work, love, children and so on (<strong>of</strong> course, one not necessarily ‘dies <strong>of</strong>’ suchtroubles). In <strong>the</strong> former, where for <strong>in</strong>stance you have to hold <strong>of</strong>f a Mars <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> 5thor a Saturn <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> 10th House <strong>of</strong> SR, you can certa<strong>in</strong>ly take <strong>in</strong>to dueconsideration <strong>the</strong> specific pieces <strong>of</strong> advice that I’ve expla<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> my bookt<strong>it</strong>led Astrologia Attiva, published <strong>in</strong> Italy by edizioni Med<strong>it</strong>erranee.On <strong>the</strong> contrary, for <strong>the</strong> latter, aforementioned ‘very bad’ Houses, youhave to evolve a k<strong>in</strong>d <strong>of</strong> ‘multivalent’ strategy that could be connected andorchestrated w<strong>it</strong>h a sequel <strong>of</strong> actions that you put <strong>in</strong>to practice voluntarily, regardless <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> specific cases.I am aware that <strong>the</strong>se l<strong>in</strong>es would meet w<strong>it</strong>h open cr<strong>it</strong>icism <strong>from</strong> thosewho claim that every s<strong>in</strong>gle native is a unique case <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world, and that forthis reason one cannot depend on a standard forecast that is applicable toall. I don’t agree w<strong>it</strong>h this po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>of</strong> view, and I’ll tell you why. It is my op<strong>in</strong>ionthat we have to make a dist<strong>in</strong>ction between <strong>the</strong>ory and practise, as weusually do w<strong>it</strong>h physical sciences. For <strong>in</strong>stance, a philosopher may <strong>the</strong>orizethat a pen dropped <strong>from</strong> a height need not always fall to <strong>the</strong> ground. But <strong>in</strong>practice you can, w<strong>it</strong>hout hes<strong>it</strong>ation, affirm that ‘every time that you drop apen, <strong>it</strong> will not rema<strong>in</strong> float<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> air but will fall to <strong>the</strong> ground’.Let us consider ano<strong>the</strong>r analogy. A car driver arrives at <strong>the</strong> emergencyroom <strong>of</strong> a hosp<strong>it</strong>al after a bad accident and w<strong>it</strong>h serious <strong>in</strong>juries to differentparts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> body. If a strictly <strong>the</strong>oretical procedure were to be followed,<strong>the</strong>n all <strong>the</strong> available and/or required cl<strong>in</strong>ical tests should be ordered for <strong>the</strong>poor victim, and only <strong>the</strong>n could <strong>the</strong> doctor <strong>in</strong>tervene w<strong>it</strong>h a ‘scientificallyaimed’ <strong>the</strong>rapy. In real<strong>it</strong>y – and rightly so – <strong>the</strong> doctor on duty knows thiswell: regardless <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> relevant cl<strong>in</strong>ical tests and <strong>the</strong> patient’s medicalhistory (not to mention those <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> victim’s parents…) if <strong>the</strong> patient’sshoulder is freely bleed<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong> first th<strong>in</strong>g to do would be to stop <strong>the</strong>haemorrhage, and only <strong>the</strong>n will <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r emergencies be dealt w<strong>it</strong>h. Evenwhen <strong>the</strong>y study <strong>in</strong>dividual problems <strong>the</strong> doctors have (or at least <strong>the</strong>y shouldalways have) a holistic perspective <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> patient. In <strong>the</strong> same way, based upon my own experience I f<strong>in</strong>d <strong>it</strong> leg<strong>it</strong>imate toestablish rules that one can apply to <strong>the</strong> overwhelm<strong>in</strong>g major<strong>it</strong>y <strong>of</strong> cases, even if you don’t know <strong>the</strong> native’s specific attributes – e.g. whe<strong>the</strong>r he eatsmeat or is a vegetarian; is a layman or a religious person; liberal orconservative; and so on…
