<strong>Job</strong> <strong>Description</strong> <strong>Duplin</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> <strong>Interim</strong> <strong>Assistant</strong> <strong>Principal</strong> Purpose: An interim assistant principal was established to support the students, staff, parents, and leadership within a school community. The interim assistant principal would be responsible for daily activities and assignments in the areas of instructional, strategic, cultural, human resources, managerial, external development, and micro-­‐political leadership. Closing Date-­‐ November 13, 2012 Essential Functions • Leads in supporting and implementing processes that establish the school’s vision, mission, and strategic plan. • Supports collaboration with all stakeholders to reflect deeply on curriculum, instruction, and assessments based on research. • Monitors the structures and processes to support collaboration and student achievement. • Facilitates a collaborative culture that ensures students acquire knowledge and skills through vigorous and relevant instruction. • Uses observations and evaluations to support professional development of certified and classified staff. • Facilitates opportunities for professional development that support school and district goals. • Resolves school-­‐based problems/conflicts in a fair manner that aligns with North Carolina General Statues and <strong>Duplin</strong> <strong>County</strong> Policies and Procedures. • Communicates openly and timely with all stakeholders in different formats. • Develops relationships with parents and community members to support the school and district vision. • Assesses the progress of school and district goals to improve student achievement.


Minimum <strong>Job</strong> Requirements Masters Degree in School Administration preferred NC <strong>Principal</strong> Licensure preferred Ability to multi-­‐task Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to plan and manage projects Ability to work with diverse groups Excellent interpersonal skills
