Ox gallTalens Ox gall is used to enable the adhesionof water-based paint on a greasy ground.Sometimes water colour or gouache producesbeading on the paper because that area of thepaper is too greasy. This can be caused by thegrease from skin getting onto the paper whenholding it. The beading can easily be remedied byadding a small amount of Ox gall to the paint. Thisreduces the surface tension of the paint making iteasier for the paint to run.
