Sofia Landfill - conclusions
• The world practice shows that it may be profitable to
construct a utilization system
• It is possible to install generating sets with total power 500
kWel for the І part and 2000 kW for the second ( 4-5 sets)
• In case of energy price $0.03/kWh the simple payback
period is 15 years, and in case of $0.06 /kWh – 5 years
• JI mechanism makes this project more attractive
• There are also other big landfills in Bulgaria that could be
involved in the emission trading schemes
