REGULAR MEETING<strong>October</strong> <strong>11</strong>, <strong>2010</strong>The <strong>Regular</strong> monthly meeting of the Board of Education was held in the BoardRoom located in the Middle <strong>School</strong> at 7:00 pm on the above date with the followingmembers present: Mr. Mitchell G. Azar, Mrs. Phyllis G. Forman, Dr. Kamal V. Gella,Mr. Robert A. Gleason, Dr. Gary S. Kramer (entered at 7:05 pm), Mrs. Diana L.Schroeder, Mrs. Leah Spangler, Mr. Joseph W. Veranese, and Mr. George P. Wolfe.Others present at the Board table were Dr. Susan J. Anderson, Mr. Steven D.McGee, Mr. Gregory T. Sanford, and Attorney James C. Munro, II.Present in the audience were Mr. Matthew Thomas, Mrs. Nicole Kuzmiak, andMr. Edward Benning.Mr. Azar presided.Minutes of the September 13, <strong>2010</strong> <strong>Regular</strong> meeting were presented forapproval. On a motion by Dr. Gella, seconded by Mrs. Spangler, the minutes wereunanimously approved.Minutes of the <strong>October</strong> 4, <strong>2010</strong> Board Discussion meeting were presented forapproval. On a motion by Mr. Gleason, seconded by Mrs. Spangler, the minutes wereunanimously approved.Dr. Gella moved, Mr. Veranese seconded and the following payments werepresented for approval:Payments disbursed - $273,430.59Payments to be disbursed - $456,747.68Payments from the Food Service Fund - $35,959.39


The payments were approved with seven yes votes and one abstention by Mrs.Spangler on check numbers 54771 and 54888.Mr. Gleason reviewed the Treasurer’s Report for September. Mrs. Schroedermoved, Mr. Wolfe seconded, and it was unanimously approved to accept theTreasurer’s Report for September as submitted and that a copy be appended to theseminutes.Mr. Gleason moved, Mr. Wolfe seconded and the tax collection reports forSeptember were unanimously approved as presented.Mr. Wolfe moved, Mr. Gleason seconded and the Comparative Budget Report forSeptember was unanimously approved.Dr. Kramer entered the meeting at this time (7:05 pm).Mrs. Schroeder, Chairperson of the Curriculum Committee reviewed the resultsof the Pennsylvania Youth Survey.Mr. Gleason, Chairperson of the Finance/Property Committee reported that acommittee meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, <strong>October</strong> 26, <strong>2010</strong>. He alsoreported that the district has received a FEMA grant for reimbursement of expensesincurred for snow removal during the <strong>2010</strong> winter storm.A discussion was held regarding board members participation in board meetingsby telephone. Mr. Munro stated that there are no provisions in district board policy thataddress this matter. Mr. Munro will review this issue; however, it was the consensus ofboard members present to prohibit participation by telephone conference.Mr. Gleason moved, Mrs. Schroeder seconded and the following support staffresignation was unanimously accepted:Estelle MilliganTeacher’s Aide, Middle <strong>School</strong>Effective <strong>October</strong> 1, <strong>2010</strong>


Dr. Gella moved, Mrs. Spangler seconded and the following Family MedicalLeave request was unanimously approved:Courtney Weaver20<strong>11</strong>/2012 school yearDr. Gella moved, Mrs. Forman seconded and it was unanimously approved toaccept the candidacy of Mr. Jonathan Rutlege for the Fulbright Teacher ExchangeProgram for the 20<strong>11</strong>/2012 school year.Dr. Gella moved, Mrs. Schroeder seconded, a roll call vote was taken and thefollowing support staff appointment was unanimously approved:Danielle MillerTeacher’s Aide, Middle <strong>School</strong>Effective <strong>October</strong> 12, <strong>2010</strong> (pending clearances)Mr. Gleason moved, Mr. Wolfe seconded, and the following volunteerappointments were unanimously approved:1.
