PL Utility Workbox
for use with Riedel Artist 32 and
RTS SAP 612 Systems
The PRG PL Utility Workbox is designed to complement
both the PRG Riedel Artist 32 and the RTS SAP
612 systems. The case design, with matching exterior
dimensions of the 16 RU pocket door racks, allows
for ease of truck packing with all the intercom system
components used by the PRG Audio group.
The workbox is stocked with components such as:
• Common antenna adapters (BNC, TNC, SMA, N, UHF)
• Common audio adapters (XLR3 turnarounds, XLR phase reverse, AC ground lift, etc.)
• Small electronics toolkit
• Headset extensions
• Desk light and power for desktop accessories
• 350 VA UPS
ADAPTER KIT
The top drawer of the workbox offers many common adapters needed to implement a large intercom system. This includes XLR
turnarounds, phase reverse barrels, switchable pads, EtherCon® barrels, RTS ISO barrels, AC ground lift, AC triple taps. In addition
to these common audio adapters, we have included a full kit of antenna adapters to aid in the deployment of wireless intercom
systems. This kit also includes BNC barrels (50 & 75 ohm), BNC-TNC, BNC-N, SMA-BNC, TNC-BNC and UHF-BNC in several gender
configurations. These allow the engineer to remote antennas as needed from many base stations manufactured for wireless intercom.
In addition to barrel-type adapters, the kit includes several short cable adapters to minimize connection points when using
distros, combiners or other items that are within three-feet of the connection point.
TOOL KIT & NEW PARTS
The second drawer of the workbox includes a small basic electronics tool kit, designed to aid in repairing headsets, re-connectoring
headsets or any other basic electronic repairs that may be necessary when a large intercom system is deployed. A small assortment
of new connectors is included in the off chance that a headset may need to have a different pin-out or if an adapter needs to
be manufactured on site to deal with a non-standard headset. This kit includes a soldering iron, screwdrivers, wire strippers and
cutters, pliers and Allen keys. Also found in the drawer is a Whirlwind Q-box tester and several tweaker screwdrivers for making
adjustments to the system.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
The third drawer of the workbox includes space for the miscellaneous essentials of tie line, gaffer tape, artist tape and other perishable
items. A small stock of basic items is included in this kit providing the simple necessities to put a show together. Basic headset
extension cables, CAT5 extension cables and other standard cables can be found in this drawer. There is also a large open space
in this drawer to allow fitting in show specific add-ons, additional headsets, handsets and adapters.
ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES
The bottom drawer of the workbox holds 350 VA UPS battery backup to use with the Riedel Desktop panels, or other components
of the intercom system that are not contained in any of the master racks. This drawer also contains desk lights, 6-way power strips,
Edison cables and other power accessories that may be needed to assemble a control area on show site.
