travel. On the other hand, proposals “to travel to California to take pictures” or “to goto Europe and see the sights” lack clear educational rationales and will not beapproved. A “Travel Committee” made up of faculty members will serve in anadvisory role to assist students in clarifying a proposal’s educational intent.9) Don’t buy the ticket before you have an approved <strong>ISIP</strong> plan! Students arestrongly cautioned not to make travel plans for <strong>ISIP</strong> until they have gottenapproval for a specific <strong>ISIP</strong> project proposal. Also, if a student’s academiceligibility is in question, s/he should consider plans closer to home.10) <strong>ISIP</strong> Advisors. Every <strong>ISIP</strong> student must have an <strong>ISIP</strong> Advisor who is a regularmember of the GSA faculty and who can provide help and guidance to the studentin planning and carrying out an <strong>ISIP</strong> project.11) Project Mentors. Every <strong>ISIP</strong> student must have a Project Mentor who offersexperienced or professional support for the project. In some cases, a ProjectMentor will be the person with whom the student is interning or learning a skill;in others, the Mentor is the “guide on the side” who advises the student along theway. The Mentor may in some cases be the same person as the <strong>ISIP</strong> Advisor.12) Contact with Advisors. All <strong>ISIP</strong> students must maintain weekly contact withtheir <strong>ISIP</strong> Advisors. This means at least once per week a student should contacthis/her <strong>ISIP</strong> advisor.13) GSA campus. Students who are doing an approved <strong>ISIP</strong> project off campus maynot be on the GSA campus between 8:00 am and 2:35 pm during the designatedtwo-week <strong>ISIP</strong> term except to have pre-arranged meetings with their <strong>ISIP</strong>Advisors.14) Credit for <strong>ISIP</strong>. Students receive .5 academic credit for completing an <strong>ISIP</strong>project. Students may not, under any circumstances, be paid for work they do aspart of their <strong>ISIP</strong> project.15) <strong>ISIP</strong> grades. To receive <strong>ISIP</strong> credit, students must submit their completed <strong>ISIP</strong>Notebook, including the reflective essay and any other materials, specified in thefinal <strong>ISIP</strong> proposal. The <strong>ISIP</strong> Notebook will be graded by the <strong>ISIP</strong> Advisor (Pass,High Pass, Fail).
