Editor’s NotesBy Jim Wright, ‘66Wow! What a ride. The response to the first issueof this renewed newsletter has been overwhelming.I have heard from many old (literallyand figuratively) friends from my Wentworth days.If nothing else, this has been a great way for meto renew past friendships and, hopefully, continuethem into the future. I want to thank everyonefor the great reception that you have given thisnewsletter.Remember, The Red Dragon is for and aboutyou, the alumni of Wentworth Military Academy. And of course the goal of the WMA Alumni Associationis to help everyone renew past friendships, make new ones, and, foremost, to helpsupport Wentworth Military Academy. There are many ways in which you can get involved.First, why not contact a friend from past Wentworthdays? You have been thinking about thisperson for awhile, but haven’t done anythingabout it. Call them today. Send them an e-mailor a card. I know that they will be excited andhappy to hear from you. If you don’t know howto contact this person, contact the Alumni Officeat the school (Al McCormick will love me for thissuggestion). The Alumni Office has a lot of informationon most Old Boys and will be happy toshare it with you.Another way to get involved is to join or re-jointhe Alumni Association. We are in a rebuildingphase right now and need all of the support thatwe can get (just as the school is and does). Thereare many benefits to being a member, come onand join us. Together, we can do wonders for ourselvesand the school.Attend Homecoming this year or in the near future.I know, we are all busy and we have familiesto consider. Bring your families along. Meet otherfamilies and make and renew friendships. Makea vacation out of it. Plan a trip around homecoming. It can be great fun.You can always attend a Rally in your area. They are a lot of fun and also help support theschool. If there is not a Rally scheduled in yourarea, you can always contact the President of theAlumni Association or the Academy Alumni officefor assistance. They will be glad to assist you incontacting Old Boys is your area to help set up agreat time for all. Also, you can get involved by helping out withthis newsletter. There are many ways in which tohelp. Here are a few.Write an article (hopefully with pictures). We arealways looking for great articles of general interestabout Wentworth Military Academy, its staff, and our alumni. Articles about the past are great.Articles about what people have accomplishedsince leaving Wentworth are great. Forward lookingarticles are also welcome. Use your imaginationand come up with something creative. Wealways welcome ideas.I am also looking for a volunteer who would liketo design and provide some artwork and maybesome cartoons for each issue of The RedDragon. I know that we have some very talentedpeople out there. I hope that you will step up andvolunteer your services to your old school and itsalumni. Fresh artwork and cartoons would be abig addition to your newsletter. There are so many ways to enjoy the fulfillmentof being involved. Think about it. It can be a lotof fun.I hope to see you at Homecoming on October1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd . It should be a real blast.Until next time, I hope you enjoy this issue ofThe Red Dragon.
