COLT GERMANYPhotographs © Monika FielitzMarthashof ‘Urban Village’Marthashof Urban Village creates an oasis of tranquility right in the heart ofone of Berlin’s most vibrant and colourful districts, comprising garden houses,penthouses and townhouses, surrounded by green spaces which representaround 30 percent of the total surface area. Ecological living is defined bygeothermal energy which can be used to both heat and cool, with an additionalwood-pellet heating system and rainwater recovery system, and the garden areasare maintained using rainwater that has been stored in underground cisterns.The buildings are enveloped in a perforated façade which serves to visuallyemphasize the modern design.
