BROKERAGEKokomo’s appeal is simple. She is thefinest available sailing yacht of her size.Where some people make idle boastsof such a nature, we think it best to setout the cold hard facts to prove it.WHEN IT COMES TO KNOWLEDGE, experience andskill, Alloy Yachts of New Zealand is the world’s leadingshipbuilder of luxury, performance sailing yachts.1Alloy has pulled further ahead through the evolutionarydesigns of Dubois Naval Architects. If practice makesperfect, these magnificent sloops have now reacheda level of perfection that will only improve through newtechnologies to come.2Designers and shipyards achieve a good deal of theirsuccess through their components. It is a meritocracycombining a great design, meticulous build quality inconjunction with the very best machinery available.3North Sails developed cutting-edge 3DL sail technologyused by America’s Cup race boats, where weight andperformance are paramount.4Obviously the rig and sails are like hand and glove.Southern Spas push the boundaries of the possible interms of flex, strength, reliability and maintenance.5While there will always be great subjectivity in style,Redman Whiteley Dixon are amongst the top handfulof designers who have managed the delicate art ofinterpreting a client’s brief with a signature style that isgreatly admired and thus adds value to the project.6Kokomo is the 23rd yacht built at the shipyardand follows on the keels of Drumbeat and Tiara.(Both yachts were sold by Edmiston.)Kokomo is the 14th Dubois design to be built at Alloy. The designers and shipyard know how to get thebest out of each other. YACHT FOCUSPRINCESS MAAND MOON GODDESSPRINCESS MARIANA is more like a wish list than practically any other yacht yet built. But the key factor is not the long list of entertainment features but how brilliantly theyhave been accomplished. For example, many big yachts have graduated from Jacuzzi to oversize Jacuzzito swimming pool. Princess Mariana dispenses with half measures and goes for a12 metre underlit indoor pool. And this is the spirit that defined the yacht’s specification. Why bother with just an idea when you can have something really spectacular?Designed by Espen Oeino with an interior by François Zuretti, Princess Mariana hasa dedicated area for just about everything within her six decks and 79 metres (258’).Where to start? 12 guests sleep aboard but 50 can be catered for during theday. To enter the yacht, guests walk past a double deck-height waterfall. In the formalcinema as well as throughout the yacht, guests can choose from the film library heldon five one-terrabyte entertainment systems. A nightclub has three cinema screensand a spa pool. The beach club (with that swimming pool) is created by a teakplatform folding down from practically the entire length of starboard hull. A spot ofexercise? Try the golf driving range. Need pampering? Visit the spa beauty salon. We haven’t yet mentioned the dining options. (Which deck, in or outdoors, arethe principal questions.) Saloons with huge sofas and armchairs are found on everylevel and, as far as we are aware, this is the first yacht that actually has an entiredeck called the Party Deck.

MOON GODDESS often accompanies Princess Mariana but, at 35 metres (115’), shehardly qualifies as a tender. In fact, the scope of this yacht, custom built like PrincessMariana at Royal Denship, is simply awesome. The simple things first. Moon Goddess’s lower deck has three double stateroomsincluding a large full-beam master, a double and a twin, all with en-suite bathrooms. Two saloons are mostly taken up by large banquette sofas and small dining tables.Headroom is irrelevant because the roof retracts to such a degree that, ineffect, there is no roof. Teak decking is used internally and the furniture is all waterproof. The reason is that Moon Goddess is designed for f-u-n and the easy way tokeep the yacht pristine is to hose down the interior at the end of each day.The performance is, by any standards, staggering. Twin 4000hp MTU enginesare linked to Hamilton water jets with a carbon-fibre crankshaft. Speeds of 53 knots,a turning circle of 150°, a wake that is tight and low and then, the yacht goes from53 knots to stationary in less than 160ft. Moon Goddess simply defies good sense, but that is what makes her such fun.If you want to set all of this poetry in motion to music, consider this one fact:Moon Goddess is wired with over 60 state-of-the-art speakers.PRINCESS MARIANA, Royal Denship, 2003, 78.60m/257’10”, 12 guestsMOON GODDESS, Royal Denship, 2006, 35m/115’, 6 guestsPrincess Mariana is currently based in the Sea of Cortes, Mexico.RIANAPrincess Marianaand Moon Goddess.Because onefantasy yacht wasclearly not enough. There is so much space, so many ideas and so much technology onPrincess Mariana that it is easy to forget that the purpose is to entertain gueststo a level not possible on probably any other yacht. Of course there is a helideck, of course the master suite is full beam and of course there is a thousandbottle tequila cellar. On Princess Mariana, even the unlikely is normal. It would take a long cruise to make use of everything on board, why notmake a start? Princess Mariana and Moon Goddess are available for charterexclusively through Edmiston.
