It is essential for you to get the most valuableinformation and accurate performance data to feedyour tactical decision process. The sensors we have developed with your needs inmind are accurate, reliable and repeatable. The HR (High Resolution) sensors allow wind dataprocessing at 25 Hz when associated to the RegattaProcessor. This is real time true wind data!WiFi interface & iPhone/iPad8Multigraphic displayThe large 5.7’’ and 256 000 colours screen of the graphic multifunctiondisplay provides access to all available data. Its glass-bonded technologyfeatures a wide viewing angle greater than 160° even in bright sunlight. All the system’s and pilot’s configuration parameters can be controlled. Itdisplays the history graphs of wind, barometric pressure, temperature andmore. The graphs provide a very valuable presentation to help performanceanalysis and decision making. Fully configurable, it allows the user tochoose the important data required (from 1 to 6 data per page) through10 user’s pages. Its graphic ability can simulate an analogue indicator.GPS HF (High Frequency)This interface uses the WiFi protocol to broadcastall data available on the bus in NMEA format totouch tablets, smatphones, computers. The nke Display app is the perfect option to useyour iPhone or iPad as a great help to decisionmaking: one page dedicated to wind shifts andcourse trend, a true wind direction historygraph and an environment history graph.Position accuracy and any tiny boat-speedacceleration is immediately detected at the highrate of 10 Hz.This HF GPS is a great alternative to theconventional speed sensor. It allows a veryaccurate measure of the starting line.

The Gyropilot was developed by nke in 1995. This wasthe first autopilot for sailboats featuring a gyro meter. This innovation combined with the nke sensorsallowed autopilots to steer the boats downwind, under spinnaker.Since then, the nke autopilot has become the firstchoice for race boats and it has been used by all thewinners of the VENDEE GLOBE. It is the choice of MINIClass, Class 40 and IRC skippers. 100% of the FigaroClass boats are fitted with a nke autopilotThe combination of the Gyropilot and nke sensors is essential to optimise the performance of the autopilot. The name of the game isto get the best possible response and nke sensors have been developed with this aim in mind. The processorA unique reference in sailing from 6.50 m up to 100’. The gyro-meter comes as standard with an integrated energy saving feature. The options are > True wind mode with the possibility to choose speed over ground to calculate the rudder angle> Interface with JEFA gear> Interface with JEFA rudder sensorThe sensorsRudder angle sensor(external mounting option)Wind sensorAutopilotpower unitnke offers a hydraulic system accordingto the rudder surface and potential boatspeed. This system is robust. It has been adaptedto minimise friction when the ram is notin use. An ‘on/off’ clutch solution hasreduced the clutch’s energy consumption. The best response required for an accurateautopilot is achieved by reducing the leverdistance which is allowed by the power ofhydraulics!10Mast rotation sensorand external rudder angle sensorCompass sensorFluxgate Regatta Compass 3DSENSORGPS sensorStandardHigh frequencyStandard mast head unit HR CarbowindThe wind modes require an nke wind sensor. This remote command is light andcan be permanently worn. Additionally, byactivating the M.O.B. function, the systemsounds a 100 dB alarm and steers theboat automatically upwind. Eventually amember of the crew can interrupt theprocedure from the autopilot display.

The pilot gives betterautopilot remoteperformance with no damping so once the control auto button is pressed the datawill not be filtered as it is with with a conventional Fluxgate. For the wind sensor we recommendplacing the mast head unitway above the main sail head, particularly if it is a square headsail. The Carbowind places thesensor 1.10 m above the mast head. The design of this sensor makes itthe most responsive on the market.Regatta CompassFor boat speed we recommend theUltrasonic sensor. It installs flushand its measurement is linear from0 to 50 knots. With an update rate of 10 Hz (10 per second), the GPS HF offers an alternativeboat peed input in the calculation of true wind. This is a new way of feedingMultigraphicthe autopilot with a wind mode. nke has developed an evolutive pilot which can be adapted accordingto each skipper’s specifications. The base is a HR processor integrating a new algorithmcombined with IMU inertial sensor providing the boat’smotion data at 25 Hz. The user has more tuning optionsand this 3D pilot allows roll and pitch to be taken intoaccount. By including the heel angle, the autopilot canhandle more.A pre-tuning values table is used to update the autopilottuning parameters automaticallyHR autopilot references :> 1 st Vendée Globe 2008> 1 st Class 40 in Route du Rhum 2010> 1 st Mini transat 2009(since that victory, it has been forbidden because too performant…)12

The HR processor is also a 25 Hz datalogger.
