He was soon joined by Waltzing ToWin who made a similar move from last to race on his quarters.The tempo in the mid stages of the race was even but quickenedup sharply at the 700m when a number of runners made forwardmoves from the rear of the field including the eventual runnerup Base. On turning for home Distillation still held the lead andbattled on gamely the whole way down the straight to score a goodvictory. Base sustained a long run from the 800m and corneredthree wide contesting the lead on corning, he battled on gamelybut just could not get by the winner. Husson Eagle was checkedat the start and raced in last place before putting in a strong runfrom the 300m. He looked the winner when he took a narrowlead at 100m and then kept fighting on for second. He ran along in front butresponded well to hard riding in the straight to just hang on, asolid win. Big Caroline worked across from her outside barrier torace on the outside of Jezpark.
