<strong>Accelerated</strong> <strong>Math</strong> 6 <strong>2012</strong>‐<strong>2013</strong>Resources:Middle School <strong>Course</strong> 3 by McDougal/LittellStudy IslandFor the <strong>2012</strong>-<strong>2013</strong> school year only, students must meet the following criteria top be placed in<strong>Accelerated</strong> <strong>Math</strong> 6:‣ Cumulative average of 90%(1 st ,2 nd ,and 3 rd nine weeks) a in 5 th grade math‣ 6 th grade placement test score of an 41/50 or above,‣ 90% or above homework completion, and‣ 90% cumulative average on 5 th grade classroom assessments.Please note: The above criteria may change for the <strong>2013</strong>‐2014 school year.<strong>Accelerated</strong> <strong>Math</strong> 6 Requirement‐ Students must maintain a cumulative average of an 83% in<strong>Accelerated</strong> <strong>Math</strong> 6 to continue in <strong>Accelerated</strong> <strong>Math</strong> in 7 th grade.CALCULATORS will not be permitted for student useExtended time will not be permitted on any assessment unless stated in an IEP or 504.No extra credit will be given.Daily use of Calendar <strong>Math</strong> to review 6 th grade math vocabulary: Divisibility Rules (2, 3, 5, 10), compareand order whole numbers, whole number operations, prime, composite, greatest common factor, leastcommon multiple, precise measurement, arithmetic properties, points, line, line segment, plane, rays,coordinate plane, plotting points and shapes.6 th <strong>Grade</strong> <strong>Accelerated</strong> <strong>Math</strong> <strong>Course</strong> Overview Variables Integer Operations Factors, Fractions and Exponents Rational Number Operations Multi‐Step Equations and Inequalities Ratio, Proportions, and Percents Polygons and Transformations Area Data Analysis and Probability Real Numbers and Right Triangles*
