Position Statement: I was commissioned in the USPHS in 2000 and became actively involvedin Commissioned Corps activities and <strong>COA</strong>. Within weeks <strong>of</strong> receiving orders, I co-wrote awelcome guide for new veterinary <strong>of</strong>ficers. Since then, I have served as a voting member andcommittee chair both within VETPAC and in JOAG – most recently serving as PAC Chair formy category. Recognizing a financial need within the category to cover speakers and supplies, Icoordinated two PHS-wide socials at the Scientific and Training conferences in Atlanta and SanDiego respectively, earning enough money for the category to open an account with COF. I haveworked on topics concerning many categories including special pay and mentoring and led theVETPAC response to the SG’s NPS. I want to serve on the BOD because I believe <strong>COA</strong> workshard on real issues affecting <strong>of</strong>ficers and their families. As the veterinary representative, I willbring my creativity, leadership, work ethic, and logistical planning skills to the National <strong>COA</strong>;serving the veterinary category and all members <strong>of</strong> the USPHS. I am deeply honored to beconsidered for this position.
