It will be available to Units that currently use the Lanier centraldictation service to dictate. Ross Buchanan can be contacted for further information or assistance on 62019or 0438 140 141.Why is it changing?• Improve system reliability• Achieve a faster turnaround time from dictation to receiving the letter for approval• Provide more dictation options e.g. smart phone app and Cerner Powerchart dictation (to be introducedlater this year)• Provide electronic signoff of letters via Cerner Message Centre so you can approve your letters at anytime and any place (to be introduced later this year)• Faster delivery of letters to GP’s via secure electronic messaging (to be introduced later this year)What is changing?• Voice prompts: will be slightly different but easy to follow• Password: no longer required• First login: on your first login you will be asked to say your name. This is only required once• Lanier handsets: in clinics and theatres will be removed and replaced by standard telephones• # key: a new feature that needs to be pressed after each item entry• Unit Code and Work Type: for users that previously did not have to enter unit code or work type you willnow be asked to enter this information at each dictation• Dictate: press 2 to dictate is a new prompt• Review of letter: you will receive a single letter for review. On return to HIS, the signed original will besent to the primary recipient. Additional copies will be generated and sent with an ‘approved by’ stampand a copy will be scanned into Cerner PowerChart (this is a temporary process until an improvedelectronic sign off process is implemented)• New unit code for Sandringham Urology clinic: if you are dictating from Sandringham Urology pleaseuse the unit code 6600 (work type: 7)What is staying the same?• Extension number (ex: 62866 or 9076 2866 external)• Your User ID, Unit codes and work types• Telephone dictation keys, e.g. key 2 will have the same record functionWhen is the change happening?• Wednesday 27 th February at 9am (the old Lanier system will be shutdown from 7am)• Support staff will be available at Outpatient Clinics to provide assistance• Dictation instructions to attach to lanyards will be given to all dictating users• Instruction posters will be on the wall of every outpatient clinic/dictating areaFor support please contact ex: 62235.
