ABOUT BOISDALEBoisdaleBoisdale was founded by Ranald Macdonald younger of Clanranald as a whisky bar and Scottishrestaurant in London's fashionable Belgravia in November 1988. Over the years it has grown in sizeand reputation to become the embassy of Highland hospitality with the world’s greatest selection ofmalt whiskies and Cuban cigars, excellent modern British cooking inspired by the very finest Scottishingredients and live “hot” jazz every evening.Boisdale was named after a remote and beautiful port in the Outer Hebrides - the island of South Uist.For centuries is was the jewel in the sea kingdom belonging to the Macdonalds of Clanranald, a royaland powerful Highland clan and senior descendents of the Kings of Dalriada in the 6th Century AD.Ranald’s father, also Ranald (as is his grandson) is the 24th hereditary Chief and Captain of theMacdonalds of Clanranald. The Clanranalds worldwide today are estimated at 1.5 million strong.There are two Boisdale establishments in London open to the general public – in Belgravia andBishopsgate – with a variety of bars, restaurants and dining rooms which feature live classic jazz everyevening. Boisdale is also home to The Boisdale Jazz & Cigar Club which offers a wide range of excitingevents and exclusive benefits to its members, over and above what is available to the general public.“in a modern world, the very finest from ages past”In 2004 Boisdale acquired The Lamb at Hindon, a 17th Century coaching inn, steeped in history andresting in the rolling hills of Wiltshire. The Lamb has 14 bedrooms, a restaurant, bar and meetingrooms and is open throughout the year.
