Fee discounts alsoapply for Sydney University students. We give priority to students and the staff of TheUniversity of Sydney.Our program is educative and individualised, whilst beingembedded in play. It provides opportunities for discovery thatcapture children’s natural wonderment, and supports theirknowledge acquisition, and development through moments ofintentional teaching.The centre is divided into two main learning environments. Infront of the centre, 12 children aged between 6 weeks and 2years are cared for within a safe and stimulating environment.The four qualified and nurturing educators in this area supportthe children to reach milestones, and create an environmentwhere the children feel safe, content and a sense of belonging.At the rear of the centre, two large laurel trees are surroundedby an inviting timber deck. The environment is shared by 12, 2to 3 year olds and 15, 3 to 6 year olds. Our four qualified andexperienced educators in this area ensure the interactions andcurriculum is based on the children’s interests, and that thechildren’s play is ongoing, meaningful and negotiated with thechildren and families.Our centre prides itself on above average ratio’s, higherthan standard level of training, detailed educational records,collaboration with families, and an atmosphere that is foundedin respect. Weprovide staff with ongoing in-service training and meetwithin regions on a regular basis to share our experiences andinnovations.Professional support and expertise<strong>KU</strong> has a dedicated team of Area Managers and EducationSupport Managers who visit each service on a regular basis.The purpose of these visits includes working with staff ontheir professional development, the curriculum provided forchildren and families, providing support for children withadditional needs and generally monitoring the operation andmanagement of each service.Play-basedlearning programs<strong>KU</strong> strongly values the importance of play-based programs.All of our high quality programs are based on current researchand are planned by our experienced and qualified earlychildhood staff.Play-based programs provide a wide range of activeand meaningful experiences that incorporate choice forchildren, while enabling them to experience many of theorganisational elements that are important at school.
