Putting baby on back: 4 methodsWe will explain four ways to place your babyon your back before continuing with the BackPouch or Back Wrap. Methods I & II are appropriatefor children of all ages and abilitieswhere as Methods III & IV are easier forslightly older or more experienced babies.Wearing your baby or child on your back is avery comfortable method, especially for longperiods of time, or for activities that require fullmovemenent of your arms and space in frontof you. The tying methods are not difficult, butwill require a bit of practice in the beginning.You will find that a child used to being carriedwill instinctively hold onto your back while youlean forward to tie the scarf. Ask your baby to liedown and pretend to sleep on your back whileyou’re tying the scarf. They will usually be happyto join in the game!When beginning, we suggest to:• Practice in front of a mirror.• Practice the chosen method a few times with justthe fabric before placing your baby in it.• Ask a second person to keep a hand on your babywhile tying the scarf.Some parents prefer waiting until their babycan hold her head up before wearing her ontheir back.
