Theyreliably separate different media or pass them over to the respective pipe system.In such critical points of intersection the Handtmann double-seat valve type481 worked satisfactorily in the world-wide brewing and beverage industries formany years.Mainly in the product chamber area this valve type has now been modifiedaccording to the Hygienic Design Criteria of EHEDG.This double-seat valve is used when the process design does not require a singleseatlifting.The valve is cleaned by the normal switching function or via the integratedleakage chamber cleaning. Single valves in tank outletsConstructional featuress Compact solid structural shape by few moving parts. FunctionalityCharacteristics for the double-seat valve are the reliable product and mediaseparation and the leakage-free product and media distribution.Valve closed – reliable media separation/CIP-pipe cleanings Basic valve position with reliable separation of the media in the pipe systems bythe two valve disks.s In their end position both valve disks are in the valve seat area.s The leakage chamber is formed between the parallel valve disks. A leakageindicates a damaged sealing in the seat area. valve closedValve open – leakage-free media distribution/CIP-seat cleanings The lower valve disk leaves its end position and moves against the upper valvedisk. During this procedure the sealing of the seat is kept(leakage-free switching).s The open leakage chamber is slowly closed and sealed by the internal gasketof the chamber.s The closed valve disks move out of the upper valve seat to the openvalve position.s During closing of the valve the valve disks move against the upper valve seatand seal both pipe systems against each other. valve opens While keeping its seat sealing the lower valve disk moves leakage-free to theend position. During this the leakage chamber is slowly opened.Leakage chamber and flushing chamber – CIP/disinfections Leakage chamber and flushing chamber are cleaned via a stationary supply pipe.s After cleaning of the flushing chamber and the leakage chamber the CIP liquidis drained through the respective outlet.
