College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) // CMU/Burton HallCollege Day!• We’ll start our college activities with lunch in Coffman Memorial Union.• First, you’ll receive your CEHD iPad and will learn how it can and will be used during your time in CEHD.Next, you’ll get to connect with CEHD Student Services staff to learn more about your Strengths and startto get to know your new classmates.• You will then have the chance to jump start your first semester with your first day of class forPSTL 1525W/V. You will meet your instructor and get a brief introduction to what you can expectfrom the class throughout the semester.• We’ll end our day together at the CEHD Block Party (in front of Burton Hall) for music, games, and dinner.Get ready for some fun!College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences(CFANS) // St. Paul Student Center (SPSC)• Following a brief welcome by the Dean in the St. Paul Student Center (SPSC) Theater, lunch will be served.Over lunch you’ll chat with professors, staff, alumni, and students to get answers to your questions aboutbeing a new CFANS student and making a successful transition to college life.• During the afternoon’s St. Paul Amazing Race competition, you’ll join a team of other first-year students andexplore campus to learn more about its resources, locate different facilities, get introduced to faculty researchthrough “CFANS in the News” sessions, and participate in team challenges connected to CFANS and St. Paulcampus traditions.• You’ll meet with faculty and other new students in your major before the Awards Ceremony at the end of the day,after which you’ll travel back home for dinner and evening programming with your Welcome Week group.College of Science & Engineering (CSE) // Mariucci Arena• Lunch will be provided in the Mariucci Arena Concourse and plaza.• Associate Dean Paul Strykowski will offer an introduction to the Freshman-Year Experience Course(CSE 1001H) in Mariucci Arena. This class which will focus on the intersection of academic excellence,personal growth, academic integrity and ethics, team work, project-based activities, student engagementopportunities, and career services.• Learn about the Innovation Project options for CSE 1001 introduced by Prof. Paul Imbertson.• Student leaders and officers will share stories of personal development available through student groupparticipation, internship opportunities, leadership, study abroad, and research opportunities - all of thesecrets to future success. These student panels will be held in the Coffman Union Theater.• Connect with your First-Year Experience instructor, teaching assistant and classmates in the first class meeting.• Meet members of many student organizations such as the Science & Engineering Student Board, the Societyof Women Engineers, Society of Hispanic Engineers, Active Energy Club and Institute of Electrical and ElectronicsEngineers who will be sponsoring an ice cream social - prizes will be given.
