picnicking. Not <strong>to</strong> be outdone is Mariner’s Cove Park in Enterprise, which has a boat ramp andsmall fishing dock; Jon boats and canoes make the most of Mariner’s Cove Park. Cypress LakesPark in <strong>DeLand</strong> is a great place for turtle- and egret-watching while you enjoy a picnic lunch. And,Gemini Springs Park in DeBary has fishing and canoe rentals, which are available near the pier.One of the <strong>West</strong> <strong>Volusia</strong> community’s busiest parks is Blue Spring State Park. Blue Spring is thewinter home <strong>to</strong> the endangered manatee, arguably some of the county’s most famous residents.When cooler temperatures creep in<strong>to</strong> Central Florida, manatee sightings thrill young and old whowatch carefully for the slow-moving giants in the Blue Spring run. Because of this, the run is closedfor water-related activities (swimming, snorkeling, paddling, etc.) from November 15 through March15. But come March 16, put on your bathing suit and strap on the snorkel because there’s a lot <strong>to</strong>explore in the waters of Blue Spring.Speaking of swimming and snorkeling, another favorite swimming hole is the 72-degree springat DeLeon Springs State Park.
