Rarely is communications seen as an integral part of programme development, rather,something which is tagged on once a programme has been completed and needs a press release. However, thebenefits of involving communications staff early on are manifold. They can help put an end to silos of informationand knowledge, providing channels through which other staff can inform one another about their work thusensuring that programmes are tied more coherently together. In addition, having a detailed and holistic viewof their foundation’s work, communications staff are also better placed to tell more compelling stories, thusincreasing the opportunities for outreach and public engagement. This session will consist of a lively debatebetween foundation professionals that have contrasting points of view on this matter.
