The Queens <strong>Diamond</strong> <strong>Jubilee</strong> Celebration <strong>Fund</strong>_____________________________________________________________To mark 60 years of the Queen’s reign the <strong>Diamond</strong> <strong>Jubilee</strong> will takeplace in 2012. The celebrations will centre on an extended weekend on2, 3, 4 and 5 June. The Queens <strong>Diamond</strong> <strong>Jubilee</strong> Celebration <strong>Fund</strong> willhelp local community groups and organisations within <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong> tocelebrate this momentous occasion.To support in planning your events and activities we have updated ourEvents Toolkit which we hope you will find really helpful. This can bedownloaded from our website at www.south-norfolk.gov.ukWho can apply?• Community groups or organisations, town and parish councilsbased in <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong>.• Schools and educational establishments that are organisingevents that involve their local community are also welcome toapply.Who cannot apply?• Commercial organisations and businesses.What will the Queens <strong>Diamond</strong> <strong>Jubilee</strong> Celebration <strong>Fund</strong> Support?• Events or activities that take place within <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong> tocelebrate the Queen’s <strong>Diamond</strong> <strong>Jubilee</strong>, e.g. street parties,beacons, etc.• Events or activities that are community focused, accessible andopen to everyone and which also engage volunteers.• Costs associated directly with staging and promoting the event oractivity, for example the cost of performers, workshop leaders,venue hire, producing posters and flyers etc.• Activity must take place between 26 th May and 9 th June 2012.


Grant Information• Applications for a grant can be made up to a maximum of £200,but the full amount requested may not be awarded due topressure on the fund.• Consideration will be given to all ideas; however <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong><strong>Council</strong>’s Loans and Grants Panel’s decision will be final.• Deadline for applications is Wednesday 29 th February 2012.• All applicants will receive notification of whether their applicationhas been successful within four weeks of the closing date. Termsand conditions must be signed and returned, together with anyother relevant documents that may be required, within tenworking days of receipt of grant offer.• Some evaluation of the event or activity will be required. This willbe minimal and details will be provided after applications havebeen processed. Preferencewill be given to events and activities that involve volunteers, bring communitygroups and residents together and leave a positive legacy for the locality.Q: My event requires more support than the Celebration <strong>Fund</strong> can offer.Where else can I get financial assistance from?A: There are numerous sources that you can approach for additional fundingfor your event. <strong>Norfolk</strong> County <strong>Council</strong> is also running a small grant schemethat covers all of the major events of 2012, including the Queens <strong>Diamond</strong><strong>Jubilee</strong>. Further information can be found at www.norfolk.gov.uk/events2012.It may be worth considering if there are any local businesses that mayconsider sponsoring your event or provide an in-kind contribution.It may also be worthwhile registering with the Grantnet service, which is a freeonline too that you can use to identify possible sources of funding for yourproject. Visit www.grantnet.com for further information.Q: I am an individual within my community, can I apply for funding for anactivity I am running for my community?A: Applications must come from a constituted community group/organisationor a town/parish council. Individuals can submit an application on behalf ofone of these parties but not on their own behalf. Applicants must beconstituted and have a bank account.Q: If succesful, how will I receive my grant?A: Upon receipt of a signed copy of the Terms and Conditions of your grant,we will issue a cheque made payable to your group or organisation within tenworking days.Q: Who makes decisions on the outcome of applications?A: The <strong>South</strong> <strong>Norfolk</strong> <strong>Council</strong> Loans and Grants Panel will make decisionsregarding which applications should receive funding and how much will beawarded. This is based on the application meeting the eligibility criteria andthe information provided about the event or activity.Q: Is match funding required for my event?A: Match funding is not required for this grant but having some, or in-kindsupport, may help your application.Q: What is in-kind support?A: In-kind support can include time given voluntarily to develop, deliver ormanage your project. It may also include services, equipment or facilities


given free of charge to support your work. If possible, you should apply a costto each area of in-kind support in your application.Q: Do events need to be free?Q: No, events can be free or fee-paying, but should not be for profit.Q: What is the definition of a community group or organisation?A: A community group or organisation is one that is based in or serves aparticular community or communities. These groups can include town orparish councils, voluntary organisations, registered charities and/orconstituted sports or cultural clubs within the community.Q. Our activity will involve children, young people and vulnerable adults.Do we need a Safeguarding Policy?A. A Child/Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding Policy is essential. If you needadvice and support in arranging this, contact the LSCB Safeguarding ChildrenProgramme Co-ordinator on 01603 228966. For further information on the<strong>Norfolk</strong> SAFE (Safer Activities for Everyone) Project visitwww.lscb.norfolk.gov.ukIf you do not have your policy in place before applying to the QDJ Celebration<strong>Fund</strong>, your application will still be considered if you can demonstrate thatarrangements are underway. We can provide a sample Safeguarding Policyfor your group or organisation to adopt, should this be necessary, but it willrequire some form of personalisation to your group before adoption.Q. Will I receive feedback if I am unsuccessful?A. We will endeavour to provide feedback on your application should you beunsuccessful upon request.Q. What evaluation will we be required to undertake?A. In return for your grant, we will ask you to provide minimal evaluation, whichis likely to be a brief report on how the event went, including numbersattending or taking part in your event and volunteers involved. We will also belooking for evidence that we can use for publicity purposes, such asphotographs, film clips and testimonials from people on the day/s.Q.
