This is when the younggrub larvae are active and thetemperature is above 12ºC (54ºF).The nematodes (Heterorhabditismegidis) seek out the chafer grubsand attack the pest by enteringnatural body openings. Once inside,they release bacteria that stops thepest from feeding, quickly killing the pest. They do not stopthere. The nematodes reproduce inside the dead pest andrelease a new generation of hungry infective nematodes, whichdisperse and search for further prey. Nemasys Chafer Grub Killermust be used within 3-4 weeks of being received.Do not apply Nemasys Chafer Grub killer too late, since thegrubs start to move down deeper in the soil and become inactiveuntil the following spring. However, as this move downwards istemperature dependent, in some years it may still be alright toapply later.As long as the grubs are near the surface and the soiltemperature is above 12ºC (54ºF) nematodes can still beapplied.Pack Sizes: 100m 2 or 500m 2Nemasys Leatherjacket KillerApply when the young leatherjackets are active in thesoil, this is typically late August through tothe end of October. When you start tosee the adult daddy-long-legs (towardsthe end of August) you will know that ina few days they will be laying eggs.These will hatch quickly, therefore, aim toapply about a week to two weeks afteryou see the adults. The nematodes(Steinernema feltiae), seek out theleatherjackets and attack the pest byentering natural body openings. Once inside, they releasebacteria that stops the pest from feeding, quickly killing the pest.They do not stop there. The nematodes reproduce inside thedead pest and release a new generation of hungry infectivenematodes, which disperse and search for further prey.Apply to moist turf when the soil temperature is above 12ºC(54ºF) and water them in well. The nematode needs to bewashed well in so that they reach the roots where theleatherjackets will be.
