11. Hail Mary Rule: If a ball is shot behind half court and passes through hoop on opposing half, allplayers on the shooting team are allowed back in (referred to as “Hail Mary Rule”). This canhappen only ONCE per game. The ball becomes dead (unable to remove player from a game)after it hits any portion of basket, support structure or wall.12. Players that are considered to be in dissent (foul language) will be knocked out for either thatgame (if still in play) or the next game (if already knocked out).13. Players may not kick balls to gain possession or attempt to knock out an opponent.14. When a player is knocked out, he/she MAY touch any balls on the floor on his/her way out andattempt to “knock” them to their teammates. If a player has possession of a ball when knockedout, he/she may give it to a teammate. Players on the sideline are responsible for retrieving balls, but can only advance to the half court line to gain ball for their team’s advantage. Balls capturedpast a team’s own half court must be placed in the center “neutral” zone.15. 5‐second violation: It is illegal for the leading team to control all the balls for more than five (5)seconds (5‐Mississippi count started from the disadvantaged team). A team may avoid a 5‐second violation by throwing or rolling a ball into the opponent’s backcourt. This does notinclude throwing a ball over and through an opponent’s end line. PENALTY: 1. First violationresults in stoppage of play and balls will be divided evenly (give the offending team 3 balls, otherteam gets 4) between the teams. Play will continue with “balls in hand.” 2. Second violationresult in FREE THROW for the opposing team – a penalty in which one player is allowed anunobstructed throw at their opponent(s) without risk of elimination. This is possible because acaught “free throw” does not result in an “out” for the thrower. Third violation results in ejectionof one (1) player from offending team.16. False Start: A false start will be called if players cross their white (black) end line prior to theofficial’s signal to start the game. False start results in stoppage and one ball from offendingteam’s side will be moved to opponent’s side of hash mark.17. When players are advancing back into the game, they are not in play until they have advancedbehind the center court line if entering not from their own half. Players have five (5) seconds toget back into the game after ball is caught.18. Any active player who goes out of bounds to retrieve a ball must re‐enter through the baselineof his/her team’s half.19. Players may not deflate or compress ball before throwing. This causes unnecessary wear on theballs, and propensity to cause tears in the protective skin.CAPTAINS: Each team will designate a player as field captain and he/she is the ONLY person who cancommunicate with the officials. The captain is also responsible for monitoring the behavior ofspectators affiliated with his/her teams. Should the spectators become abusive; the captain will be heldresponsible.
