A group of East Germans who came to India as a Choir<br />
‘Kemerchor’, visited Bombay and Delhi where they accepted<br />
hospitality of German families. Emotionally disturbed at the<br />
plight of street children in India, they went back taking stock<br />
of their experience with the decision to extend help to these<br />
children, in Delhi. They contacted their local hosts for identifying<br />
an NGO which could use their resources judiciously<br />
and honestly following a proper accounting procedure. This<br />
German lady Mrs. Sharma (married to an Indian) went about<br />
identifying NGO’s and forwarded the profiles of three<br />
shortlisted ones to Kemerchor; who in turn decided to partner<br />
with <strong>Deepalaya</strong>.<br />
This was yet another ‘First’ and forty members of Kemerchor<br />
sponsored one child each, from <strong>Deepalaya</strong>. The relationship<br />
continues till date!<br />

In its long and arduous march <strong>Deepalaya</strong> encountered many obstacles<br />
and roadblocks;sometimes the ride got rough,the climb<br />
too steep.However we stopped for breath,took stock of our situation-then<br />
moved ahead,using the obstacles as stepping-stones.<br />
Justifiably we are proud because notwithstanding the many tough<br />
challenges (archaic regulations, bureaucratic apathy, corruption,<br />
resource crunch, initial community unwillingness, HR difficulties<br />
etc.)<strong>Deepalaya</strong> has never compromised on its Core<br />
Absolutes(TRUST)* and is still forging ahead.<br />
