Special operating instructionsSpecial operating instructionsBreak-in proceduresIn contrast to the descriptions in the Owner'sManual for the BMW Z4, please take note of thefollowing differences for your BMW Z4 M Roadster/Z4M Coupe.Always obey all official speed limits.Engine and differentialUp to 1,200 miles/2,000 kmDrive at varying engine and road speeds, but donot exceed 5,500 rpm or 105 mph/170 km/h.Strictly avoid depressing the accelerator pedalto full-throttle position.After the breaking-in inspection at 1,200 miles/2,000 km, engine or road speeds can be graduallyincreased.TransmissionThe function of the transmission reaches itsoptimal level only after driving a distance ofapprox. 300 miles/500 km. Do not exceedengine speeds of 5,500 rpm during this time.Driving notesGround clearanceThe front spoiler greatly restricts thevehicle's ground clearance. Make surethat your BMW always has sufficient groundclearance, e.g. when entering undergroundgarage complexes or driving over the edge of acurb; otherwise the front spoiler could be damaged.
