DIRECT EXCHANGE PROGRAMS<strong>Xavier</strong> students may take advantage of direct exchange agreementswith several international universities. A <strong>Xavier</strong> student wouldpay regular tuition and fees here and then enroll at one of theseuniversities, while a student from that institution attends <strong>Xavier</strong>.Requirements and course offerings vary by institution.SUMMER <strong>STUDY</strong> <strong>ABROAD</strong>Each summer <strong>Xavier</strong> <strong>University</strong> offers study abroad programs in avariety of locations and disciplines (including foreign languages andhonors). Programs are typically 4-6 weeks in length, and studentscan earn up to six to eight credit hours. Some programs are taught by<strong>Xavier</strong> faculty, and some are provided through partner institutions.SERVICE LEARNINGThe academic service learning semesters combine 12-15 credit hoursof academic study with community service under the guidance andsupervision of <strong>Xavier</strong> <strong>University</strong> faculty. The current options includeNicaragua and urban Cincinnati, and other program locations arealso being established.The primary goal of the entire semester is the integration of academicstudy with the experience of service. The academic componentprovides students with knowledge of the local culture, religion,history, government and economics, with an emphasis on issues ofsocial justice. The service component places all coursework in thecontext of living and working with the economically disadvantaged.Learn more at www.xavier.edu/international.WILLIAMS COLLEGEOF BUSINESS PROGRAMSBusiness students can take advantage of study abroad to enhancetheir education and prepare to succeed in global commerce. Currentofferings include programs in varying length, locations and specificbusiness discipline.ADMISSION & FINANCIAL AIDTo apply for a study abroad program, students should complete theonline application at www.xavier.edu/international.Financial aid eligibility for use with study abroad depends on thestudent’s financial need and the type of study abroad program inwhich he or she enrolls. A student must be enrolled at least half-time(i.e., six credit hours) to be considered for financial aid. <strong>Xavier</strong>’s Officeof Financial Aid provides information on current available resources aswell as required steps to apply for assistance related to study abroadat www.xavier.edu/financial-aid/forms.PLAN EARLYThe Study Abroad Coordinator holds regular walk-in advising hourson Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2-4pm in Room 230, GallagherStudent Center.
