THE PROGRAMBased in Schott Hall, the Department of Communication Artsoffers hands-on experience in <strong>Xavier</strong>’s own television facilitiesand at the student newspaper, as well as at additional mediaoutlets. Full-time faculty are assisted by skilled adjunct instructorswho are professional communicators in the Cincinnati market,offering students valuable interaction and current insights intothe industry.The degree includes a choice of four majors:u Advertising: Provides a comprehensive study of the field,including principles of advertising, creative concepts, mediaplanning, Internet advertising, research and management.u Electronic Media: Prepares students for entry-level positionsin radio, television, cable, Internet and corporate video,including work in both the commercial and non-commercialbroadcast areas.u Communication Studies: Develops the knowledge andpractical skills necessary to promote effective communicationprocesses within public and private organizations.u Public Relations: Offers both comprehensive theory andspecific practical skills in the context of a liberal education toprepare for professional work in the corporate, private nonprofitand public sectors.RESOURCES<strong>Xavier</strong> is among a select group of universities nationwide offeringstudents the opportunity to work at an on-campus studio, whichis both a teaching facility and a professional video productioncenter.
