<strong>Loughborough</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>car</strong> <strong>parking</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>permits</strong> <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong> FAQ’sStudents will be required to pay in full at the time of purchasing the permit, regardless ofwhen the permit is bought. There is no instalment payment scheme for students <strong>and</strong> nofinancial support.Staff will have the option to pay in full at the point of purchase or in 10 monthly instalmentsdeducted from salary. If a permit is requested part way through the year the full amount isstill payable. This could be paid in full or by part lump <strong>and</strong> part instalment. E.g. a Type 3permit is requested in Nov. If instalments are requested, payments would be as follows: £30lump sum followed by seven £10 salary deductions between December <strong>and</strong> June.Which type of permit do I buy if I work or study part time on days which are notcovered by Type 2 or 3 <strong>permits</strong>?The choice of permit is entirely up to the individual. No-one will provide guidance on the typeof permit to be purchased as everyone’s circumstances are different.When can I buy a permit?Permits will be issued to staff <strong>and</strong> eligible students from Tuesday 27 th August <strong>and</strong> will initiallybe available from the main enrolment location, moving to the Finance Office duringSeptember.Parking for persons with disabilitiesPeople who are part of the disabled persons’ <strong>parking</strong> scheme (Blue Badge) can park in adisabled <strong>parking</strong> bay on a first come first served basis. There is no charge however a permitwill beStaff <strong>and</strong> students who become temporarily disabled should contact the Health & SafetyAdvisor to arrange an occupational health assessment to determine suitability for atemporary disabled <strong>parking</strong> permit.Am I guaranteed a <strong>car</strong> <strong>parking</strong> space if I buy a permit?No, <strong>car</strong> <strong>parking</strong> <strong>permits</strong> do not guarantee a <strong>car</strong> <strong>parking</strong> space. Reserved <strong>parking</strong> will operatefrom time to time at the discretion of the Executive.What happens if I park on the campus without a permit or in ways which contravenethe traffic regulations?Cars parked without a valid permit are liable to a <strong>parking</strong> charge of £80 (reduced to £40 ifpaid within <strong>14</strong> days). The <strong>car</strong> parks will be patrolled <strong>and</strong> charges will be issued to vehiclesnot displaying a valid permit or in other ways contravening the traffic regulations (e.g. misuseof <strong>car</strong>-share-only or disabled bays, vehicles blocking exits or parked on double yellow lines).What if I leave the <strong>College</strong> or want to give up my permit?Pro rata refunds for every full month which is unexpired will be given on completion of apermit surrender form <strong>and</strong> return of the original permit. E.g. a student type 2 permit ispurchased in January for £75 <strong>and</strong> surrendered in March. 3 months payments (£22.50) will berefunded on surrender. There will be no reissue of <strong>permits</strong> after surrender.The Finance Office will administer the permit surrender scheme.What happens if I lose my permit?A replacement permit can be applied for <strong>and</strong> will cost a sum pro-rata to the number ofmonths left in the permit year, regardless of whether the permit was full or otherwise. E.g. ifthe permit is reissued in January the amount payable will be 0.6 of the cost price.What if I use two <strong>car</strong>s, can I have a second permit?No, you may have up to two <strong>car</strong> registrations printed on one permit.July <strong>2013</strong>


<strong>Loughborough</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>car</strong> <strong>parking</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>permits</strong> <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong> FAQ’sWhat if I change my <strong>car</strong>?A new permit with revised details will be issued on surrender of the previous permit.How does the <strong>car</strong>-share-only <strong>parking</strong> work?Car sharing is encouraged to reduce the number of single <strong>car</strong> users entering the campus. Topromote this there are 88 <strong>car</strong>-share-only spaces in <strong>2013</strong>/<strong>14</strong>. These are first come firstserved spaces. There is no guarantee of <strong>parking</strong>.Car-share-only spaces will be denoted by a green dot in Car park 1 <strong>and</strong> 6. All <strong>car</strong>s parked inthese bays must clearly display two valid <strong>car</strong> <strong>parking</strong> <strong>permits</strong> in the same vehicle at thesame time. One of the <strong>permits</strong> must be valid for the day of <strong>parking</strong>, e.g. two type 2 <strong>permits</strong>(Mon, Wed, Fri) are not allowed to park on a Tuesday or Thursday, however type 2 <strong>and</strong> type3 <strong>permits</strong> displayed together in the same <strong>car</strong> can park 5 days per week.Car sharing involving a <strong>car</strong> user bringing a non-<strong>car</strong> user onto the campus does not qualify fora <strong>car</strong>-share-only space. There must always be two valid <strong>parking</strong> <strong>permits</strong> displayed.Any single occupancy <strong>car</strong> that parks in a <strong>car</strong>-share-only space will incur an £80 charge evenif two <strong>permits</strong> are displayed.How do I find someone to <strong>car</strong> share with?<strong>Loughborough</strong> <strong>College</strong> subscribes to LeicesterSHARE <strong>car</strong> share scheme which is free toregister <strong>and</strong> use. It is advised that staff <strong>and</strong> students do not <strong>car</strong> share together.To register on the scheme go to: https://leicestershare.liftshare.com/directory.asp <strong>and</strong> selectthe <strong>Loughborough</strong> <strong>College</strong> group.Car sharers may benefit from finding a <strong>car</strong> share prior to purchasing a permit in order thatthe correct complementary <strong>permits</strong> may be purchased.Car sharers do not have to register on the scheme to <strong>car</strong> share.
