Scope <strong>and</strong> Purpose of the <strong>Policy</strong><strong>Loughborough</strong> College recognises the relationship between good attendance<strong>and</strong> punctuality <strong>and</strong> student success. For students to achieve their maximumpotential, they need to have high levels of attendance <strong>and</strong> punctuality.Persistent lateness to classes is disruptive to the teaching <strong>and</strong> learningactivities of all College students.2. <strong>Policy</strong> Statement<strong>Loughborough</strong> College will use a variety of processes to encourage goodstudent attendance <strong>and</strong> punctuality. We will always advise against studentsmissing classes.Requirements <strong>for</strong> Implementation Tutors will ensure that all classes begin on time <strong>and</strong> arrangements tocommunicate to students will be made <strong>for</strong> delayed or cancelled lessons. Persistent lateness of staff will be addressed by the Curriculum Staffresponsible <strong>for</strong> the student. Student attendance <strong>and</strong> punctuality will be a priority <strong>for</strong> all teaching staff<strong>and</strong> continuous ef<strong>for</strong>ts to challenge <strong>and</strong> improve this will be part of theQuality Monitoring Process.3. Equality <strong>and</strong> Diversity StatementAn Equality Initial Screening/Impact Assessment has been conducted by theEquality <strong>and</strong> Diversity Coordinator <strong>and</strong> the Student Services Manager inJanuary 2014 <strong>and</strong> necessary amendments made to the policy.4.
