Tragus long, reacheshalf <strong>the</strong> ear length, straight or slightly curved but not in<strong>to</strong> S-shape (Fig. 141). Dorsalfur brownish, shiny. Tibia and tail membrane not hairy (Fig. 143). FA: 33.1 – 42.0mm, D5: 39 – 52 mm, D3: 53 – 65 mm. – Myotis dauben<strong>to</strong>niiAdditional characters: Penis parallel sided or slightly broadened <strong>to</strong> its tip (Fig. 142).Distribution in Europe: It occurs throughout almost all <strong>of</strong> Europe, being absent only fromnor<strong>the</strong>rn Scandinavia, nor<strong>the</strong>rn Scotland, Sicily, sou<strong>the</strong>rn Greece and Crete. (Incontradiction <strong>to</strong> earlier references largely overlaps in its distribution in <strong>the</strong> south with M.capaccinii.).Taxonomical note: In Spain smaller and different coloured <strong>bats</strong> occur in sympatry with <strong>the</strong>typical form and were described as species <strong>of</strong> its own: M. nathalinae.
