These sensors arealso the key interfaces required for correctoperation of an ECS. The main processor unithas been developed by Kelvin Hughes to runboth the requirements of S-VDR of collectingthis data and logging to a fixed or float-freeCrash Survivable Module and, simultaneously,to provide an ECS display and control system.The diagram overleaf shows how theadditional requirements of ECS can be simplysatisfied by adding an appropriate monitor,keyboard and track ball.Kelvin Hughes recommends the MantaDigitalrange of 17, 20 and 23 inch high resolution TFTdisplays, which are fully approved to be usedas part of an ECDIS and provide the fulldimming range required for vessel operationat day and night.Alternatively, monitors, trackballs andkeyboards may be provided from othersources.ChartCoAll of the Kelvin Hughes charting systems arefully compatible with the ChartCo satellitebroadcast system for updating of electroniccharts, as well as standard methods ofupdating.leading the way for 250 years
