We encourage parents to be involved in thefollowing ways: Assisting individual students in reading Book covering/collating Cleaning furniture Computer expertise/typing Fundraising Transport to special events Sharing special skills with students(Please note that all parents wanting to assist in the classroom musthave a ‘Working with Children’ check)


Students are expected to be on time at thebeginning of the <strong>school</strong> day. First bell at 8.45am is for children to comeinside and get themselves organised. ‘Golden 10 Minutes’ for parents from 8:45am. On the 9am bell, all students are expected tobe in class. If your child arrives after 9.10am, please fillout the late arrival register in the office. ‘It’s not O.K. to be away’ regularly.


All students should bring a boxof tissues, art smock and librarybag to <strong>school</strong>. Emergency cards and internetforms must to be returned. Full <strong>school</strong> uniform should beworn, including a sunsmart hatin Terms 1 and 4. Running shoes are needed forPhysical Education sessions.


We encourage thestudents to eathealthy food and totake all wrappinghome so as tominimize rubbish. Grade 1 studentshave a healthy snackbreak daily.


Curriculum is based on AusVELS LearningStandards. Level 3 refers to Grade 3. Level 2 refers to Grade 2. Level 1 refers to Grade 1.

Please read and respond to any notices senthome with students. Return Bulletin slip each week. Students have a book in their blue folders tobe used for communication between homeand <strong>school</strong>. This should be brought to <strong>school</strong>each day. Please ensure you regularly check the bluefolder for important messages. Reading log should be brought to <strong>school</strong> withblue folder.


Generally given over a 1 week period. Children are expected to complete up to15-30 minutes of homework a day(depending on grade level). Tasks are based on current work beingstudied at <strong>school</strong>. Activities will be explained in class, butstudents should seek further assistancefrom their teacher if they encounterdifficulties. Homework is given on Mondays.


Develop children’s personalorganisational skills Good study habits Reinforce topics explored at <strong>school</strong>.Some tasks are designed to be completedindependently, however, some guidance andsupport in learning to manage time andpresentation of work may be required.


Your child should be encouraged to readeach night. The book should be enjoyable and not toodifficult. Reading log should be completed eachnight.


The communication book in the blue folder is to beused as a tool for parent and teachercommunication. Absence notes can also be written in thecommunication book. Please ensure your child has their folder and bookwith them each day.


Excursions and Incursions will usually relate tostudies in History. Notices will be issued 4 weeks before anyexcursion.


This year the Level Three Camp is to CampGundiwindi. Camp is a 3 day/2 night event taking place inTerm 3 (September 19th – 21st). More information about this will be distributedbefore the end of Term 1.


• The Level 2 Sleepover will be in Term4.• It will be one Friday night, with pick-upearly Saturday Morning.• More information about this will bedistributed later in the year.


• The Level 1 Barbeque will be in Term 4.• It will be on a Friday <strong>evening</strong>, with ‘LifeBe In It’ games.• Children will be collected later that<strong>evening</strong>.• More information about this will bedistributed later in the year.


Students are not to bringvaluables to <strong>school</strong>. Mobile phones and hand heldcomputer games should bekept at home. Form from the office is to befilled out if it is necessary foryour child to have a phone at<strong>school</strong>. Large amounts of moneyshould not be at <strong>school</strong>.

Set up an after<strong>school</strong> routine. Provide books on awide range ofsubjects and readinglevels. Read together!
