Conceived in the fire of a homebrewer’s heart, Jester King was birthed by brothers Jeff
Stuffings and Michael Steffing in the early fall of 2010 amongst the hills in Southwest Austin.
Ambitious from the start, the brothers made their commercial debut with a session beer, wearing
the moniker Commercial Suicide. It was anything but. They followed this shortly with the wildly
popular Rye IPA Wytchmaker, a beer that bars could rarely keep on tap. The brothers could
not fail. Recently, they have moved their original lineup to farmhouse versions (Farmhouse
Wytchmaker, Farmhouse Black Metal, etc.), in part won a court ruling against the Texas
Alcoholic Beverage Commission, and brewed a second collaboration beer with gypsy brewer,
Mikkeller, called “Ale”/“Malt Liquor” in TX Geek Brunch. Look for it later in 2012. Jester King has
challenged conventional beer thinking while raising the bar high for the local Austin palate.
