Draft 26/10/2004PLAYING POSITIONS POLICYPlayers in all teams will be expected to learn to play several (three or more) fieldpositions.If you can play in several field positions you give yourself several chances of getting intothe team you want to be in. Whether it be the School 1st team - the Pennant or “A” team- the St<strong>at</strong>e team etc. If you say you only want to play in 1 position you give yourself only1 chance of making th<strong>at</strong> team.It is the aim of <strong>Doncaster</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Hockey</strong> th<strong>at</strong> players will have developed a workingunderstanding and ability to play in three or more positions after two years with the club.To assist with this aim <strong>Doncaster</strong> <strong>Junior</strong> <strong>Hockey</strong> has developed a Playing PositionsPolicy <strong>for</strong> the guidance of coaches and managers.• <strong>Coaches</strong> in U9, U11 and U13 District grades shall regularly rot<strong>at</strong>e players thru<strong>at</strong> least 3 of the playing positions.• It is recognised th<strong>at</strong> when the team has a number of inexperienced playersand some experienced players, it is beneficial to the team to play the moreexperienced players in the key positions early in the season.• However over the season it is expected th<strong>at</strong> each player will be giveexperience both <strong>at</strong> training and in games in 3 or more positions.• <strong>Coaches</strong> in U13 Pennant, U13 A, U15 and U17 grades shall rot<strong>at</strong>e players thrudifferent playing positions.• This may be achieved by selecting say 2 positions per player th<strong>at</strong> must bemastered by th<strong>at</strong> individual.• However <strong>at</strong> training and during games it is also expected th<strong>at</strong> all playersshall have their experience and expertise in <strong>at</strong> least 3 field positions.<strong>Coaches</strong> are encouraged to discuss the implement<strong>at</strong>ion methods to achieve these aimswith the other coaches in their age group to ensure a consistent approach is maintained.
