Africa’s rise is real5 TechnologyMobile technology has been an important catalyst for economic growth in Africa. Although Africa has by far thelowest fixed line penetration in the world, the exponential growth in access to mobile communication and serviceshas allowed Africans to leapfrog legacy technologies. This leapfrog effect has transformed not only the social,but also the commercial landscape in Africa. This year, the mobile ecosystem GSMA Sub-Saharan Africa MobileEconomy 2013 will contribute approximately 7.1% to SSA’s GDP, with that proportion rising to over 8% by 2020 .
