Horizontal Split Case PumpsFor most efficient movement of clear water or lowviscosity clear liquids at moderate heads.Patterson Horizontal Split Case Pumps areengineered to move clear water and lowviscosity clear liquids at moderate headsmore efficiently and economically than anyother type of pump. The HSC pump leads theway with flow power and regulation technologythat manages temperature, pressure and flowfor comfort and efficiency.Precision balancing of all factors in the designof Horizontal Split Case Pumps providesefficient operation along with mechanicaldependability and low cost maintenance. Theirsimplicity of design ensures long, efficient unitlife and minimum power consumption. All fabricated parts are standardized andaccurately machined for true alignment, increasing overall durability. Impellers arestatically and dynamically balanced andconstructed with double inlets, practicallyeliminating end thrust and resulting in highoperating efficiency.to 1,150 ft. The medium and high heads areoffered for water and industrial/commercialduties, including city water booster service, brine and hot water circulation, hot welland make up water service, low viscosityliquid handling and power plant condensercirculation.Available with up to 48 in. discharge outlets, the Patterson pumps can be configured tocustom designs for individual needs.30x24 Bottom Suction.Zero Flush Technology. Pattersonpumps are now available with a sealingarrangement that requires no water.430x24 MAA.These split case pumps meet HydraulicInstitute Standards in capacities from 50gpm to more than 100,000 gpm, with singlestage heads to 550 ft and two-stage headsThis new technology features EnviroSeal’sSpiralTrac* throat bushing and Chesterton’smodel 442** Split Mechanical Seal.*SpiralTrac is a trademark of EnviroSeal EngineeringProducts Ltd.**442 is a trademark of A.W. Chesterton Company.

Vertical Split Case Pumps. Patterson’sHorizontal Split Case Pumps may also bevertically positioned and driven by an electricmotor or diesel engine, which will operate thepump at the required speed.Water or other liquid enters at the intake, andthe rotating impellers discharge the liquidby centrifugal force into the casing, whichsurrounds the impellers. Pressure developedby the pump is the result of the velocityimparted by the impellers and not by anyimpact or replacement.30x24 Vertical Mount.30x24 Vertical Mount.6Horizontal Split Case Vertical Mount Pump.54x48 Vertical Mount.

Two-Stage DMD Centrifugal PumpsThe most economical pumping equipment availablefor rugged and reliable service.Type DMD Two-Stage Pumps are engineeredto produce as much head as two single-stagepumps in series and are much more compactin size. Heavily built, these units are highlyefficient and have every mechanical feature toassure long and reliable service.Designed in sizes from 2 in. to 10 in.discharge, for capacities to 3,500 gpm, andfor heads to 1,150 ft, they represent the mosteconomical pumping equipment available forrugged and reliable service.10x10 DMD.Dynamically balanced impeller.Shaft sleeves lockedagainst rotationby impeller key.OptionalMechanical SealDeflectors providedto prevent productfrom enteringbearing housings.Casing ringsprovided to protectcasing from wear.Replaceable packingbox bushing providedto protect casingfrom packing wear.Optional mechanicalseal is available.Integrally castpacking boxes.Integrally cast bearingsupports (exception10x10 DMD).Predrilled and tappedpacking box drippockets for removal ofpacking box leakage.7

Vertical In-Line PumpsCompact, self-contained design makesthem easily adaptable to existing or new systems.Patterson’s V.I.P. series of Vertical In-LinePumps offer a simple, an economical andan efficient alternative to end suction andhorizontal split case pumps in flows less than2,500 gpm. These in-line pumps, in particular, offer thefull flexibility to serve all applications andovercome constraints, while minimizing energyconsumption and lengthening service life. The Vertical In-Line Pumps are easily andinexpensively installed, since they require nofoundation or concrete pad. Only standardpiping supports on either side of the pumpare needed.Vertical in-line suction and discharge flangesare on a common centerline, 180° apart, foreasy installation into an existing pipeline. The V.I.P. is available with either packing or amechanical seal. When packing is utilized, atwo-piece gland is provided for easy removaland packing installation. The mechanicallysealed pump can be converted to packingin the field. Competing in-line pumps offermechanical seals on standard models, butdo not provide a gland, and the mechanicalseal is installed underneath the volute cover. This does not afford the user the flexibility ofconverting to packing if the mechanical sealfails. Nor, does the design allow for inspectionof the mechanical seal without “tearing down”the pump. The V.I.P.’s standard JP/JM motor format, designed for this service by NEMA andHydraulic Institute, provides quality integraldrive systems that assure the uniformity oftolerances, minimum shaft deflection andbearings properly sized for the job.Packed pumps are standardwith split glands and lanternring. Optional mechanicalseal is available.Predrilled and tapped packingbox drip pockets for removalof packing box leakage.Registered fits at thevolute cover maintainpump alignment.Casing ringsprovided toprotect casingfrom wear.Dynamicallybalancedimpeller.Easy clean out. Debriscan be removed withoutdisassembling pump.Integrally castpacking boxes.9

Axial and Mixed Flow PumpsSpecially designed and built to meetindividual customer requirements.Patterson Type “G” Axial and Mixed FlowPumps have demonstrated over and overagain their ability to move large volumesof liquid at low to medium heads with anefficiency and economy unobtainable with anyother type of pump. These pumps consist of:a bowl assembly, which is cast and providesmuch more reliable service; an outer columnand discharge elbow; shaft and shaft covertube; floor plate; and motor mounting stand.Axial and Mixed Flow Pumps can be furnishedwith an open line shaft when pumping arelatively clear product. Patterson can alsoprovide “pull out” designs to make regularlyscheduled inspection and maintenanceeasier. The design permits removal of theentire bowl assembly, including all rotatingparts, diffuser, impeller housing and suctionbell, through the outer shell without disturbingeither discharge or floor plate connections. These pumps generally operate in asubmerged state with suction entrancesflooded. Horizontal units are installed with apositive suction head.72 AFV.The axial flow propeller or mixed flow impelleris positioned in its individual impeller housingjust above the suction bell and close to thepump inlet. Water enters the pump throughthe suction bell, is discharged by the impellerinto a guide vane section or diffuser, and thenis pumped through the outer column to thedischarge connection of the pump elbow. Thepumps may be built in one or more stages, depending on the total head requirements,in bowl sizes from 12 in. to 84 in. Capacitiesrun from 2,000 gpm to 500,000 gpm, withheads up to 60 ft per stage. Custom unitsare available if your requirements exceed theabove conditions.1030 SAFV.
