The prime aim of the Department is to produce Technocratswho render their services in building the Nation. Civil Engineering Department is also knownas the mother of all Engineering branches. The field of Civil Engineering not only comprises humanactivity but also provides a major source of water management. There is a wide scope ofresearch & consultancy within the department, as there is a need for new types of innovativestructures. The advantage in choosing this branch is that there is a wide scope of practical learning.AcademicsThe students may pursue a four year Under-graduate or a three year diploma course in thisbranch.The students can gain expertise in core subjects like Surveying, Construction Materials,Strength of Materials, Structures, Water resources, Environmental studies, Geotechnical Engineering&Transportation Engineering, by having a rare opportunity to undergo internship at theend of every academic year commencing from II year onwards, for gaining hands-on experience atSowbhagya, Gayathri, Ramky construction Companies which are our close associates.18

The students are having exemplarylab facilities with heavy investment which are generally and rarely available and the labequipment like Total Station, Universal Testing Machine, Tri-axial Testing Machine, CBR Apparatus,Shear Box Apparatus helps the students to have a wide industrial exposure.The Laboratories are so established that any student interested in doing research has a goodplatform for experimentation. The students are well trained for GATE examination from the thirdyear of the course for facilitating them to prosecute their PG study i.e. M.
