every two years, Darwin hosts the
Arafura Games and Alice Springs hosts
the Masters Games. The Arafura Games
attract thousands of atheletes from
Australia and the Asia Pacific region
who converge on Darwin to compete in
more than 30 sports, including track,
swimming and team events and the
highly-entertaining Malaysian kick
volleyball game called Sepak Takraw.
Similar numbers pour into Alice Springs
for the Masters Games, known as the
‘Friendly Games’, where the only entry
stipulations are a minimum age of 25
