Die Geschichte<br />
Die Komö<strong>die</strong> „Das Gespenst <strong>von</strong> Canterville“<br />
<strong>von</strong> Oscar Wilde handelt <strong>von</strong> der modernen<br />
amerikanischen Familie Otis, <strong>die</strong> nach<br />
England umzieht. Auf der Suche nach einem<br />
angemessenen Wohnsitz für seine Frau,<br />
seinen Sohn Washington, seine Tochter<br />
Virginia, und seine Zwillingstöchter, stößt<br />
Mr. Otis auf das Schloss Canterville. Trotz der<br />
vielen Warnungen vor einem Gespenst, kauft<br />
er es noch am Abend der Hausbesichtigung.<br />
Schnell genug soll <strong>die</strong> Familie jedoch das<br />
Gespenst richtig zu spüren bekommen,<br />
denn Lord Canterville, ein über 600 Jahre<br />
alter, stolzer Schlossgeist hat schon ganz<br />
andere zu Tode erschreckt. Leider hat es sich<br />
in <strong>die</strong>ser Hinsicht bei der Familie Otis etwas<br />
verschätzt, denn <strong>von</strong> den selbstbewussten<br />
Amerikanern wird es bald an den Rand des<br />
Wahnsinn getrieben.<br />
Einzig Virginia möchte dem Gespenst helfen<br />
seinen Frieden zu finden...<br />

l’Histoire<br />
La comé<strong>die</strong> « Le fantôme de Canterville »<br />
nous présente la famille Otis qui déménage<br />
de l’Amérique en Angleterre. La famille compte<br />
quatre enfants : le fils ainé Washington, la fille<br />
Virginia et des jumelles. À la recherche d’une<br />
résidence appropriée pour sa famille, Monsieur<br />
Otis décide d’acheter le manoir de Canterville le soir<br />
de sa première visite. La demeure est hantée et le<br />
fantôme, qui y habite depuis plus que 6 siècles, fait fuir<br />
les habitants les uns après les autres. Mais une famille<br />
d‘Américains modernes ne se laissera pas impressionner<br />
par un fantôme britannique. Ils en feront voir de toutes<br />
les couleurs au pauvre fantôme! Bientôt, c’est lui qu’on<br />
persécute!<br />
Seulement Virginia prend le malheureux au sérieux et veut<br />
l’aider trouver la paix.<br />
The Story<br />
The comedy “The Canterville Ghost” by Oscar Wilde tells the story<br />
of the Otis family who moves from America to England. The Otis<br />
family includes Mr. and Mrs. Otis, the eldest son Washington,<br />
daughter Virginia and younger twin daughters. In his search for<br />
a suitable residence, Mr. Otis comes across Canterville Chase. He<br />
buys it on the evening of his first visit, despite ample warnings<br />
that the house is haunted. Shortly after they move in, none of<br />
the family can deny the presence of Lord Canterville, a proud<br />
600-year-old ghost who is trying everything he can to make life<br />
in the castle miserable. Unfortunately, he has not taken into<br />
consideration the Americans’ pragmatism and undaunted selfconfidence.<br />
Very soon he finds himself at the brink of sanity…<br />
Only Virginia does not dismiss the ghost and wants to help him.
