<strong>CIMMYT</strong> is an internationally funded, nonprofit, scientific research and training organization. Headquarteredin Mexico, the Center is engaged in a worldwide research program for maize, wheat, and triticale, withemphasis on Improving the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of maize and wheat systems in poorcountries. With national program partners, <strong>CIMMYT</strong> works to increase food security, protect naturalresources, and alleviate poverty in the developing world. It is one of 16 nonprofit international agriculturalresearch and training centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research(CGIAR), which is sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, theInternational Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank), and the United Nations DevelopmentProgramme (UNDP). The CGIAR consists of a combination of 40 donor countries, international and regionalorganizations, and private foundations.<strong>CIMMYT</strong> receives core support through the CGIAR from a number of sources, including the international aidagencies of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India,Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, andthe USA, and from the European Union, Ford Foundation, Inter-American Development Bank, the OPECFund for International Development, UNDP, United Nations' Environment Programme (UNEP), and theWorld Bank. <strong>CIMMYT</strong> also receives non-CGIAR extra-core support from the International DevelopmentResearch Center (IDRC) of C~nada, the Rockefeller Foundation, and many of the core donors listed above.Responsibility for this publication rests solely with <strong>CIMMYT</strong>.Correct Citation: Morgounov, A.I., VA Vlasenko, A.
