“Now, let me tell you something…………”
2010 Gala
That’s how Myrtle Rapp, seemingly, always started her statements. So, let us tell you something
about the lady we loved so much and gave us all more than any of us could have ever imagined.
As her grandkids, we remember her as “the best grandma in the world” who would spend
“countless nights around the old chopping block spreading her many words of wisdom.” She
was “the sweetest, most caring person in the world” and “words couldn’t describe the way she
had influence over so many lives”. She was “full of Tiger Spirit” and “Gillespie Bridge’s own
celebrity.”
As her children, we recall, “You need to establish the difference between your family, friends
and coworkers. Years later I realized what she said, family are friends, friends are family and her
coworkers and patients were friends and family, too.” “She was beautiful, generous and always
sharing” and “Mom was so many different things.”
“My wonderful wife loved to garden, can the produce and cook. She was the best cook in the
Midwest. She never learned to swim or ride a bike due to living on the farm. She became a
good water skier and snow skier. She would ride a motorcycle with me going 100 miles an
hour, thru the Rocky Mountains and Old Mexico. She was always prepared for snow trips, river
trips on the Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas Rivers. And, you had to take what she had prepared
whether you wanted to or not.
She loved her kids, grandsons, and great grandsons.
If Myrtle knew you, she loved you and
always had a helping hand for everyone. She
talked to her flowers and her garden plants as she
was sitting in the garden working with them in
her night gown!! She loved life. Thanks
